Financial Times highlights the diverse journeys CEOs take to reach the top in a recent article, leveraging executive intelligence from Altrata. The analysis reveals a slight difference between S&P 500 and FTSE 100 CEOs. While S&P 500 CEOs often work their way up internally, FTSE 100 CEOs are more likely to be externally appointed or have shorter tenures before taking the helm. Key insights from the data: - 25% of FTSE 100 CEOs are externally appointed, compared to 15% in the S&P 500. - Long internal tenures (6+ years) are more common for S&P 500 CEOs, while FTSE 100 leaders show higher mobility and shorter company tenure.
