On Tuesday November 5th at 15.00 CET (9.00 EST) there will be a free webinar on Foundation Decarbonization and Re-use.   The concept of reusing an existing foundation underneath a superstructure is one of the major themes of the Conference on Foundation Decarbonization and Reuse.   Following two successful conferences and with a third scheduled for March 25-27, 2025, the organizing committee has decided to highlight the concept more frequently. To support this, a series of 1-hour webinars will be launched, featuring examples of foundation reuse and offering additional resources, including information on related events and initiatives within the geotechnical industry to advance foundation reuse.   In this webinar: Jessica Oudhof (Arup) will present on the idea to reuse the existing foundation underneath the most important bridges in The Netherlands when they are replaced to meet current demands. '#Sustainable #Geotechnics for Transport Infrastructure' was the title of a recent workshop held in Portugal, hosted by the IGS's TC-Stabilization and the ISSMGE's TC-Transportation Geotechnics (TC202). The workshop addressed fundamental issues such as sustainable materials and construction processes for #transportation #infrastructure, as well as geotechnical challenges and innovations aimed at enhancing resilience and adaptability of transport assets, infrastructure, routes, networks, and systems. Presentations on the environmental advantages of using #geosynthetics in transport projects were shared by notable IGS experts Erol Tutumluer, Jorge Zornberg and Xuecheng Bian.
