Last week the EXPERIENT team had the honour of attending the Touched by Christopher Foundation Gala Dinner at @DoltoneHouse – a night dedicated to supporting families affected by workplace fatalities, held in honour of Christopher Cassaniti, who tragically passed away in 2019. All proceeds from the event – including ticket sales and auction fundraising – go directly to this worthy cause that provides crucial financial assistance to families who have lost a loved one due to a workplace accident, covering essential living expenses during their time of grief. It was a heartfelt night complete with tributes and a candle ceremony, where industry leaders, government representatives, and unions gathered to champion this important cause. At EXPERIENT, we believe that coming home safe from work is a human right, and we’re honoured to support the foundation’s mission alongside our industry peers. Let’s continue working together to make safety a top priority on every job site.

Greatful to serve as the Board Chair for such an active and involved “community profit” company called Pro-Se Potential. One of our community outreach events was featured on the Back to Besa show with FOX news capture by the ever active Converge Media Team. Check it out in the link below. Our mission is to help our youth outperform their current environments. While we have a wide reach a majority of our children and families exist in King and Pierce Counties. If you want to get involved we have a Gala coming up November 2nd. Contact me for details. How do we heal a nation? Listen to the needs of the states. How do we heal the states? Listen to the needs of the counties And the counties? Listen to the needs of the cities And how do we heal the cities? Listen to the needs of the families. And how do we shape a better future? Listen to needs of the children and serve. https://lnkd.in/dgSxPkVX

For 50+ years, the Edmonton Singing Christmas Tree has brought people together to celebrate the season, but more importantly, also financially support charities in the local community. This event is a perfect example of how business executives, project managers, operational leaders, engineers, performance artists, volunteers, and administrative professionals can all work together seamlessly to find fulfillment beyond just a paycheck. The success of the Singing Christmas Tree demonstrates an important team-building principle. "Big Hairy Audacious Goals" can seem impossible and out of reach for our employees, but showing our team members how they can utilize their skills and areas of influence to contribute and support the "big picture" gives them a sense of connection, purpose, and achievement. https://lnkd.in/dHF_ji_7

I work with loads of really passionate businesses, whether B Corps or charities or CICs. You can see and feel how much the staff love what they do: which is what we all want - right? But can that passion go to far and what do you do when passionate staff clash or fall out !?! I share my thoughts on this situation below with some top tips to manage this 👇 #charitylaw #bcorp #conflictingbeliefs #resolvingdisputes #hr

Grateful to serve the grantees of the Simons Foundation yesterday and got to catch up with friends Brooke Richie-Babbage, molly delano, and Becky Endicott, CFRE! My roundtable was about Demystifying Money...you know I'm all about talking about the money, honey! Some powerful takeaways: 1) We all have money baggage and trauma no matter who you are, how much you had (or didn't) and it takes conscious, intentional effort to recognize and shift the thought patterns. 2) Your self-worth should not be tied to outcomes. Whether you get the gift or not is ultimately not up to you. Regardless, you are worthy. 3) Fundraising is like creating art. You are not going to be for everybody, so find your people and help them be part of something greater than themselves. 4) Money is energy. We are but the vessels through which it flows so we need to be conscious of the blocks that we construct that restrict the flow. 5) Change starts with our identities and our decision to BE the kind of person who embraces fundraising. Thanks so much to Whitney Gaskins PhD, CDP, Jenny Quinn, Steven Melendez, Kyle Marian Viterbo, Jennifer Brooks, Robert Fernandez, Ran Yan

At Philanthropy Northwest, the values of place and joy are at the heart of our mission. My family’s history in the Northwest—from my Japanese grandfather’s immigration to first Alaska and then Seattle over a century ago to my great-grandmother’s work in the strawberry fields of Vashon Island—shapes my perspective on these values. In my recent blog, I delve into how we at Philanthropy Northwest embody these principles and share personal experiences that highlight their significance. I invite you to take a moment to read it and explore the importance of place and joy in our work!

Today marks one month since I started with Benefactor Group as a Senior Consultant in the interim services capacity. Here are four reflections I would love to share: 🗓 30 days goes incredibly fast. If you are an organization hiring for a leadership position, allow your new hire to jump in but also give them space to sit with the new. The Bene team has been incredibly thoughtful about this. 🙋♀️ It’s okay to ask for help. I say this from a place of deep compassion for organizational leaders. I have been there. Lean on people to help you. Having a third-party lens is sometimes the hardest to budget for but the best money you will spend. 📚 Knowledge is power. Easier said than done, professional development and keeping your brain sharp is imperative to our sector. “This is how we have always done it” does not work anymore. 🔆 Nonprofits are amazing, and so are the people that work for them. As we begin to dive deep into interim services and what that looks like for nonprofits, we need to take a moment to acknowledge that this is hard work. Sometimes an organization is not the right fit for the people that are hired and sometimes the person isn’t the right fit for the organization. Let’s normalize saying that is okay. If your organization, or someone you know might benefit from interim services— a focus on expanding the capacity of nonprofit organizations through change and talent management, transition planning, and sustaining development infrastructure—I’d love to learn from your experiences and explore how Benefactor Group could help! 📢 Let's Chat! And if you want to know more about “Why I Serve?” (there might be some book recs at the end) read below!
Meet our newest “Bene”, Jenny Bergman, in our latest edition of “Why I Serve.” Jenny reflects on philanthropy, the common good, and how kitchen table gatherings taught her the importance of community and civil engagement. Get to know Jenny today! bit.ly/3UqEkzV
