(We blinked and the December holidays were but a distant memory). In the working world, it is a time of reflection, retrospection and planning for the next season. I like to have conversations with myself.Todays one went like this. Do we think about what we are actually thinking about? What we see, is not always the reality. What we hear or experience can also be amplified by past hurts, unfulfilled ambitions, or the fear of failure. So as we gear up for this part of the year I’m asking myself: 1) What am I thinking about and reflecting on?What are my self inhibiting beliefs, voices I listen to, and habits that are stumping my growth(as a human,mum, employee,etc). 2) Comparison is the thief of Joy. There is no need to compete when there is room enough to celebrate each other. In other words,how does my skill,talent and job function complement another person’s? Think of the beautiful melody of an orchestra rather than a solo players musical impact. 3)How can I show up for someone today? How do I play to my strengths (remain authentically me)yet still be open to learn and impart my learnings to others? Where you are now,is someone’s else’s dream. Let’s not allow the naysayers,the negatives voices shape our view on who we are, where we are heading and who we are purposely called to be in society. You’ve got this! Celebrating the Spirit of the Holidays and Reflecting on 2024 As the year comes to a close and we gather to celebrate the holiday season, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey 2024 has been—both personally and professionally. This year brought its share of challenges, but it also brought growth, innovation, and countless opportunities to make a meaningful impact. In business, we often focus on results, but it’s the relationships we build along the way that truly matter. I’ve been fortunate to work alongside a remarkable team, collaborate with forward-thinking partners, and engage with clients who continue to inspire me with their vision and resilience. 2024 reminded me that success isn’t just measured by what we achieve but by how we achieve it. It’s about leading with empathy, embracing change, and empowering others to reach their potential. It’s also about finding purpose in the work we do and using our platforms to make a difference in the communities we serve. The holiday season is a time to pause and appreciate these moments. It’s a chance to express gratitude—for the lessons we’ve learned, the obstacles we’ve overcome, and the milestones we’ve reached together. I always find it important at the end of the year to reflect on another year gone, and see how I measured up to the goals I had set for myself last December. As I reflected on the year this morning I had a sobering moment that I admit took me by surprise. Given the great year that we had at Movement Marketing, it was very easy for me to list all of the amazing moments that we had at Movement as a team but, other than a couple of stand out experiences, it was very difficult for me to list significant moments in my personal life that made 2024 a great year. Don't get me wrong, it was a GREAT year, but I found myself in my reflection seeing that I spent a lot of time creating great moments at Movement, and not as much time as I should have creating great moments in my personal life with friends and family. In a moment where I should have been celebrating the wins and growth of #TheMovement, I found myself a little sad that I hadn't realized my oversight until Dec. 23rd. Often times when things are going great in our professional lives, and the work that we are doing is extremely meaningful to us, we can get lost in the work because for us it is fun and a work of passion. We can begin to lose sight of what matters and why we work so hard! The holiday season gives us a chance to pause, take a breath, and reflect on what to truly be thankful for. Take time this holiday season and to create many significant personal moments with friends and family! I for one will be doing a lot of that! Also, join me in my goal to make more of these moments a priority in 2025! I know that it is going to be another great year filled with growth and brand new partnerships for Movement Marketing, LLC, and I will continue to work hard on this labor of love, but I am going to work even harder to spend make more time to create amazing memories with friends and family! As the year comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the accomplishments and struggles that have shaped my journey. One memory stands out: when my son was just a few months old, my family faced one of the hardest times of our lives. My then-husband, the primary breadwinner, had lost his job. With bills mounting, we could no longer afford our home. I remember putting up the Christmas tree in our living room, knowing it would be the last holiday we’d spend there. Sure enough by spring, we had to move out. Going back to work, after mat leave, I felt hopeless. I couldn’t see a way forward. I faced the stark reality of becoming another statistic—a single mom with young children. But deep inside, I knew I had a choice: to give up or fight for a better future. That season of life became my greatest challenge. I confronted fears I never imagined I could face. With courage and determination, I kept going, even when the path ahead was unclear. Through that experience, I discovered something profound: My Inner Why. It became my anchor, guiding me through uncertainty and keeping me centered when I felt lost. Reconnecting with “My Inner Why” helped me persevere and ultimately thrive. This holiday season, I invite you to reflect on your Inner Why. What motivates you? What gives you strength? Reconnecting with it can recharge your spirit and help you start the New Year with clarity and purpose. And you don’t need to wait for January—start today. Begin small.
