According to Gallup, 44% of the workforce experiences stress daily. 😰 Have you noticed? I experience people’s stress in every interaction, every conversation I have — professionally and personally. 👁️ In today’s fast-paced world, where uncertainty grows by the hour and digital transformation adds to the complexity of work-life, we are harming each other — often without even realizing it. 😓 Constantly being on the go and exposed to information overload overwhelms and stresses the brain, triggering deep-seated fears. 🧠👀 And when fear takes over, it makes us think about ourselves: 😱 • We go from "we" to “me, me, me” • We get preoccupied with “what’s in it for me!” • We behave in ego-driven ways and manipulate 😏 • We chase others’ approval, validation, and recognition 🙌🏾 • We either make ourselves small or overcompensate 😬 The thing is... Our fear-driven behavior doesn’t just hurt us — it harms everyone around us: • The individual • The team • The organization • The company • Society as a whole 💼🌍 We need to help each other turn things around. 🔄 Since we need to coexist, all of us share the responsibility to create a healthy environment to exist in. Each one of us starting by handling the stress we experience daily instead of taking it out on others! Luckily, we all can! You can start today by: • Slowing down (giving yourself "brain breaks") 🧠 • Building your mental and emotional resilience 🧠 • Getting crystal clear on your aspirations, goals, deliverables, and priorities ✨ • Strengthening your ability to self-regulate 🧘♂️ • Connecting with people heart-to-heart ❤️ It’s time to make a change. 🔄 Don’t you think? How do you manage stress in your daily life? What steps have you taken to reduce stress in your workplace? Regulation isn’t about staying calm all the time, and it’s certainly not about bypassing the hard emotions that arise in demanding work environments. Over the years, I’ve worked with many clients navigating the pressures of work, leadership, and performance who’ve felt like they’re failing if they can’t maintain a constant state of “calm” or “balance.” But here’s the truth: work—and life—are messy. They’re full of highs and lows: stress, frustration, uncertainty, and yes, moments of doubt. None of these emotions are “wrong,” and none of them mean you’re not capable. Regulation doesn’t mean suppressing or avoiding these feelings. It’s about building the capacity to navigate them effectively. One professional I worked with described feeling ashamed when they couldn’t “just push through” or “get over” moments of burnout. But healing from stress isn’t about ignoring it. It’s about recognizing when you need to pause, reflect, and recalibrate so you can come back stronger. Personally, I’ve had moments where I thought, Why can’t I handle this better? But I’ve learned (and now help others learn) that emotional intensity doesn’t mean you’re unfit for leadership or productivity—it means you’re human. True regulation isn’t about shutting down challenging emotions; it’s about learning to move through them and realigning with your goals in a sustainable way. This is a reminder I share with my clients, and it applies just as much in the workplace as it does in life: Productivity and performance don’t come from constant perfection—they come from authenticity, self-awareness, and grace. Learning to regulate doesn’t mean avoiding stress or pressure; it means showing up for yourself, honoring your capacity, and adapting with resilience. Let’s normalize the idea that the most effective leaders and professionals are those who embrace the full spectrum of their humanity. #LeadershipDevelopment #WorkplaceWellness #EmotionalIntelligence #StressManagement #ProductivityTips #Resilience #BurnoutPrevention #MentalHealthAtWork #AuthenticLeadership #GraceInGrowth

The most powerful way to reduce burnout is to reach out to others This is a simple proposition. Yet harder than it looks to put into practice. Yet, if it were practiced more often it would go a significant way to reducing the current stress and burnout blowout. Some stress is important to our working days – it helps us to meet deadlines, respond nimbly to demands and to change, and to get stuff done. There’s no question though that pressures have increased and that levels of stress and burnout are higher than they used to be, and still climbing. It’s unnecessary, and counter-productive, to put it mildly. Part of the reason stress is climbing is that our focus now is too much on AMELIORATING high levels of stress and on reducing burnout. * It SHOULDN’T HAVE TO GO THAT FAR. We need to focus back at the source. We need to better understand how motivation, stress and performance are connected at the human level. And as leaders, how to best harness that important trifecta. 'The most powerful way to ameliorate stress and uncertainty is to reach out and help others', and it’s especially powerful when leaders do. And they do that by coaching with compassion. 'helping others uncover or discover their ideas, feelings, hopes and dreams and then supporting their efforts to change' When you are compassionate and positive with others, they will be more confident, hopeful and open. To make your life easier and to reduce everyone’s stress: 📌 Invest more time in building personal connections and trust with your team by coaching them. 📌 Make it safe for everyone to contribute their best ideas and efforts by coaching the team. 📌 Appreciate the effort and the work that people do, daily if you can. It doesn’t have to be big to matter, but when it’s noticed it matters a great deal. Everyone looks to the leader for ‘how we should be here’: increase how much you reach out to others with care and compassion to show how important it is. Most leaders know coaching is important, many struggle to find the time – make it a higher priority. 🤔 How might you increase the amount of time you spend coaching your team? * I haven’t forgotten about the myriad reasons for too much stress and burnout that I’ve written about here before….eg escalating work demands and a lack of interest in applying good human performance research to workplaces and practices. #linkedinnewsaustralia #burnout #career #leadership

As December approaches, it's a good time to reflect on how the "What if" mindset may have impacted our thinking and decision-making during this past year. While it’s natural to think through potential outcomes, especially in leadership, this cycle can easily become overwhelming. The constant loop of worrying about “what ifs” can cloud our judgment, leading to stress, fatigue, and anxiety, rather than productive decision-making. Overthinking isn’t problem-solving; it’s a cycle that keeps us stuck in anxiety rather than action. The good news is, with intention and practice, we can rewire this mindset for better results in the year ahead. Instead of focusing on suppressing anxious thoughts, try to replace them with constructive, goal-oriented thinking instead. For example, if you’ve been feeling stuck in your role, reframe it as, “What type of work aligns with my passions and values?” Shift your focus to what you can control and create a plan to move toward that. You can also consider incorporating practices like journaling or a daily "brain dump" to clear your mind and bring clarity. Writing down your thoughts, even if they feel chaotic, helps to release mental clutter and focus on what’s truly important. By consistently applying these practices, you’ll find it easier to manage racing thoughts and remain clearheaded. Remember that overcoming overthinking is a gradual process. It’s not about drastic changes overnight, but rather taking small, actionable steps to shift our mindset. #therapist_mandy #executivecoaching #mentalhealth #overthinking #anxiety #positivemindset #obsessivethoughts #ruminating #anxietyrelief #mentalhealthmatters #selfcare #sofree #getsofree

Have you ever felt completely overwhelmed by the sheer number of decisions you face in a day? I’ve experienced this firsthand. It's called decision fatigue—when every decision feels harder than the last because your mental energy is simply worn out. I remember a time when I was leading a project that required multiple complex decisions in a short span. I could feel my energy draining as each choice became more difficult, leading to a sense of overwhelm. The deadline loomed, and it was clear: I needed a different approach to decision-making. That’s when I turned to emotionally intelligent decision-making. Here’s what I’ve learned: Making smart decisions isn’t about having endless willpower. It’s about managing your emotions so they don’t cloud your judgment. It’s about knowing when to push through and when to pause, reflect, and regain clarity. Emotionally intelligent decision-making isn’t about perfection. It’s about emotional awareness and self-regulation in moments of stress. → Build self-awareness to identify when emotions are influencing choices. → Practice self-regulation to pause before reacting. → Prioritise decisions to conserve mental energy for what matters most. → Set boundaries to limit unnecessary choices and avoid overwhelm. The result? More clarity, better decisions, and reduced stress. I’ve seen leaders regain control over their workdays and teams achieve goals without feeling exhausted. Remember, decision-making isn’t just about being logical. It’s about staying emotionally balanced and clear-headed even when faced with countless decisions. P.S. Let’s connect if this resonates with you and you want to take action make emotionally intelligent decision-making and break free from decision fatigue. 🌟 #decisionfatigue #emotionalintelligence #mindfulleadership #resilientdecisionmaking #stressmanagement #selfawareness #emotionalbalance #mentalclarity #selfregulation #leadershipdevelopment #productivitytips #decisionmakingtips #worklifebalance

Running Free, But Everyone’s Chained to Their Phones Out on another evening run, and I can’t help but notice—a sea of faces buried in their screens. Sure, maybe it's a critical message or an end-of-day report, but let’s be real... more often than not, it's just another scroll through nothing. Has our world shrunk so much that the phone in our hands is now our escape? No buzz, no notification—yet we’re glued to it. Are we so numb, so bored with life that the screen is our only refuge? Or is it deeper—are we seeking validation, connection, purpose, from a device? When did checking our phones become a default setting in the day? What if you put it down—just for a moment? Imagine a digital detox. A moment where your mind gets a break from the chaos. You start reflecting on things that matter, feeling the breeze, noticing the world around you. What happens next? Less stress, more clarity, and an open window into better self-management. Executives, senior managers—this might be your wake-up call. If you’re feeling burnt out, overwhelmed, or losing focus, it’s time to rethink how you're spending your mental energy. I see this pattern every day with high performers. Many of us have experienced burnout to some degree at some point in our life, and rarely talked about it. I can remember back more than 15 years ago-- holding my newborn baby girl and breaking down into tears. Yes tears of joy, yet even more tears of overwhelm, frustration and anxiety. I knew something had to change, I just did not know how to face it alone. I could not see any way out and at the time everything felt like it was closing in. Now, let's make no mistake- this did not happen suddenly, the pressure and overwhelm had been looming for a number of years. It just finally got me to my breaking point. The dangerous thing about burnout is that even really strong, high-performing individuals feel like they can handle it and often suppress the symptoms until it is too late. Fortunately, I had a support system and access to the tools to help me make some really powerful life-changing decisions and that is why we do this work for others. Burnout can be hard to detect. Many individuals -including leaders- hide burnout symptoms due to fear - fear of losing their job or credibility, of missing an opportunity to move up the ladder, of showing their vulnerability- and consequently they don’t ask for help. In addition, burned out leaders blame themselves for their weakness and lack of willpower, and often feel alone and isolated, and even more so in today's world of working from home. Have you ever experienced burnout at some point in your life? What was it like to be in that space and what did you do about it? _________________________________________________________________________________ I am Kyle Pertuis, Founder and Head Coach at MindFit Coaching, and I help leaders build high-performing teams, boost employee engagement, and build a positive work culture. Do you measure your worth by how much you do? 💼 It’s so easy to fall into the trap of thinking your value depends on how productive or helpful you are. 🙇♀️ But this mindset can lead to burnout and exhaustion, even when no one else is pressuring you to stay late or do more. When you learn to recognize your inherent worth, it's so much easier to actually set boundaries, delegate tasks, and stop before you're totally depleted. ✨ Share this post with someone who does wayyy too much and deserves a break. Save this post for those days when you're overdoing it trying to prove how good and helpful you are. #WorkLifeBalance #MentalHealthAtWork #ProductivityTips #LeadershipDevelopment #EmployeeWellbeing

Don’t React, Respond In the last few weeks, there has been a resounding theme within leadership circles. It centers on the misalignment between stakeholder expectations on them and the level of performance and delivery by their respective teams. In simple terms, the load is not adequately shared, despite the extraordinary levels of education and experience that exist within their support groups. How is this possible? It may simply boil down to the level of imposed demands and current emotional state. A manageable degree of demand and expectation promotes enthusiasm, positivity, confidence, and fulfillment. By contrast, overwhelming challenge makes us anxious, impairs our abilities, we suffer task resignation, lower competency, and motivation. Who hasn’t been in that situation at some point? We all have. What determines our experience of demands and expectations is our perception. When we are healthy and passionate, purpose-driven, and happy, we can handle more than we ever imagined and enjoy the journey. By contrast, if we are depressed, anxious, stressed, sleep-deprived, lonely, and sad – the slightest pressure has the potential to create extreme overwhelm and subsequent performance decline. The deeper issue could be the current emotional well-being trends in the workplace. Leaders, you may need to take a deep breath... Clinically diagnosed depression: 1 in 4 Extreme loneliness: 1 in 4 (specifically in remote working) Raging anger: 1 in 6 Deep sadness: 1 in 5 Clinically diagnosed anxiety: 1 in 5 Overwhelming stress: 1 in 3 From: Gallup and Frontiers Unless significant support is provided in this regard, which will have to take many forms (i.e., a commitment to controlling the modifiable stresses in the work environment and creating a culture of self-care), your goals and aspirations may never be fully accomplished. As Chris Hodges cleverly points out: If you have a dream and no team, the dream is impossible. If you have a dream and a bad team, the dream is a nightmare. If you have a dream and a GREAT team, the dream is INEVITABLE! This may well be a call to action. Health (mental, emotional, and physical) is foundational for fulfilment, happiness, performance and delivery. Support, nurture, and optimise your team in this regard, and the results will follow. #resilience #stressmanagement #health #performance #mentalhealth #leadership
