We’re ready for the next episode of the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix with this year some great innovations. The innovation in looking forward to most is: in app ticketing. That means: in order to enter the circuit, you have to download the app first. So, no printed pdf’s anymore! And more security because of the dynamic qr codes. This innovation paves the way to more commercial innovation coming soon… The innovation I’m not looking forward to actually use is: offline pin. That means that certain payment devices still can be used, even when there is a connectivity issue. It’s a great next step in making cashless environments more robust and we’re piloting it during next days at a small scale. To be ready for bigger challenges later on. Celebrating a 10-year milestone! At the beginning of 2024, I shared my high hopes for the year ahead. After six challenging months, those hopes remain valid, supported by strong values and ambitions within our dev community. Behind any numbers, it’s important to echo throughout every keynote, debate, or podcast what drives us to do the job. Here are three recurrent themes we’ve had the chance to debate at DevTalks with managers, CEOs, team leaders, and developers: 1. 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: Where there's passion for the product, there's also accountability and a great desire to achieve the impossible. 2. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭: We continually measure our impact through various exercises. For instance, we track the number of new speakers on our stages, their progress, and feedback across editions. It's crucial to help them communicate their products better, which takes immense courage. We value this evolution deeply. We also measure the number of products showcased, interactions, and feedback received. 3. 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 & 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: Every project offers new learning opportunities that guide the team's ambitions. I believe in striving for the best version of each project. There are vital initiatives to address, such as tech education, women in tech, spaces for dev leaders, hands-on workshops, and more. The path forward is optimistic, and we hope to have the community's support as we explore and implement our many ideas. 𝐀𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰. On this note, big congrats to the Catalyst Solutions team & partners because behind the core team, there are bigger forces that take their resources to support and bring out the best of a product. Some concert-goers might be new to the city and may face more problems than local residents. Problem Impact: Current Solutions- Offline Ride-hailing, Walking to a nearby auto stand, Calling a friend/relative to pick up/drop off, Hotel Service, Carpooling, Paying way extra, and many more Cost of Inaction: Long waiting queues, poor experience, health casualties, other players catering to the problems, drivers not accepting rides. What I did: Starting with the user research, understanding the whole check-in process, and Understanding different users, I also stumbled upon some really great ideas...
