🎄✨ Balancing Family, Recruitment, and the Magic of Christmas ✨🎄 As the festive season approaches, I find myself reflecting on the delicate balance we all strive to achieve—juggling family life, careers, and the holidays. For me, recruitment has always been more than just a job; it’s about making a difference in people’s lives. Whether it’s helping a client find their perfect candidate or supporting someone in securing a role that transforms their future, it’s rewarding in so many ways. But as any recruiter (or working parent!) knows, it’s also a fast-paced, high-pressure world. Then there’s family—the reason why I do what I do. My children remind me of the magic of Christmas, the importance of being present, and the joy of creating memories together. It’s their excitement that reminds me to slow down, cherish and live in the moment of the season. For those of us in recruitment, December can feel like a whirlwind of closing placements, prepping for January hiring surges, and wrapping up the year. But it’s also a time to reflect, reset, and reconnect—with our loved ones, our goals, and our purpose. To my fellow recruiters, working parents, and anyone balancing a busy career with family life: let’s give ourselves the grace to pause, celebrate the wins, and embrace the festive spirit. After all, Christmas is about connection—and isn’t that at the heart of what we do every day? 💙 What are you celebrating or thankful for this year or this December?? 🎁✨ #FamilyFirst #RecruitmentLife #ChristmasMagic #WorkLifeBalance #Gratitude

Now, I don't know about you but Christmas for me is well and truly in action and the manufacturing sector is lighting up with seasonal excitement too🎄 First off, as a recruiter, we play a crucial role in ensuring that both interim and permanent roles are filled smoothly, even as things get busier: - Streamlining the recruitment process to avoid delays. - Communicating clearly and promptly with our candidates about holiday schedules and expectations. - Showing appreciation! A little festive cheer can go a long way in making candidates feel valued and festive. Meanwhile, for our incredible manufacturing teams, who are busy creating innovation, let's help keep their festive spirit alive in the work environment: - Organise team-building activities that are fun and festive. - Introduce flexible work schedules to help balance work and holiday plans. - Recognise hard work and achievements to end the year on a high note and motivate everyone for 2025. Ultimately, Christmas is about giving. So, why not give your teams the support, recognition, and festive cheer they deserve, so they can truly enjoy the season.🎄 Now I am feeling extra Christmassy, I am off to watch Elf... ✨

Nothing Good Happens Past 11 PM at a Christmas Work Party – (Revisited) Brutal truth: These aren’t your childhood besties, and they’re definitely not your family! These are your bosses, colleagues, and the gatekeepers of your professional reputation. The people who decide who gets that shiny promotion, that career-changing project, or even a second chance. So, how do you play it smart? Leave EARLY! "Why, Ms. Muthoni?" you ask. Let me break it down: 1/ Protect Your Reputation After a few drinks, conversations can shift from professional to... questionable. A careless comment might stick more than the amazing work you’ve done all year. Save yourself from becoming next year’s office gossip. 2/ Dodge Awkward Situations Alcohol lowers inhibitions—and sometimes boundaries. Women, especially, might find themselves navigating uncomfortable advances from colleagues or bosses as the night progresses. Exiting gracefully ensures you avoid these tricky situations while keeping your dignity (and sanity) intact. 3/ Set Clear Boundaries Leaving early speaks volumes about your self-awareness and professionalism. For women aiming to climb the ladder, this subtle exit strategy helps maintain authority and respect in the workplace. And hey, let’s talk about the elephant in the room: Why do companies spend lavishly on these parties—photo booths, free-flowing drinks, expensive catering—but the moment you ask for a raise, it’s suddenly, “The budget is tight”? (No offense, dear HR. We love the parties, but… priorities, right?) 📌Bonus Tip: Leave before the clock strikes midnight—or better yet, 9 PM. It’s the perfect time to bow out gracefully, especially before things get too festive. Of course, don’t sneak out before the speeches. That would just be rude. Curious... • What’s your strategy for surviving a Christmas Work Party? • Do you stay, or do you escape with your dignity intact? Ms. Muthoni Njoroge, The LinkedIn Lioness. #roaringwithaudacity

🎄 Christmas Holidays in US IT Recruitment: A Time for Reflection and Preparation 🎄 As the festive season approaches, the US IT recruitment industry experiences a unique rhythm. While the holidays bring joy and celebration, they also influence hiring trends and workflows. Here’s what makes this time of year special: 🌟 Reflection and Gratitude: The end of the year is a perfect time to reflect on our achievements, express gratitude to our clients, candidates, and teams, and acknowledge the efforts that brought success throughout the year. 📉 Seasonal Slowdown: Many clients and candidates take time off, which might slow down hiring processes temporarily. However, it’s also a great time to build relationships, reconnect with passive candidates, and prepare for the January hiring surge. 📅 Preparation for the New Year: Recruiters can use this quieter period to strategize, align pipelines with upcoming client requirements, and ensure readiness for the dynamic hiring season ahead. 🎁 Celebrate Success: Whether it’s virtual gatherings, sharing holiday cheer, or acknowledging team milestones, celebrating the holiday spirit strengthens team bonds and boosts morale. 💡 Pro Tip: Stay proactive by sending holiday greetings to clients and candidates. It’s a small gesture that leaves a lasting impression and keeps relationships warm. As we wrap up 2024, let’s embrace the festive spirit, recharge for the coming year, and continue to make a difference in connecting talent with opportunities. Wishing everyone in the recruitment community a joyful Christmas and a prosperous New Year! 🎉 #Christmas #Recruitment #USITRecruitment #HolidaySeason #Networking #TalentAcquisition

Embracing Uncertainty During the Festive Season...🎄 With the twinkling of holiday lights and the world seemingly winding down, I have been doing some soul-searching about my next career move. It is that time of year when we reflect on the past and wonder about the future. Paradoxically, the festive period tends to feel like the game is on pause, whether organisations are slowing down hiring activities, people are well away on well-deserved vacations, and inboxes seem eerily quiet. At the other end of the scale is the fact that I look into early January with excitement every start of the year because when resolutions are fresh, new project budgets are released. In the spirit of giving this holiday season, I would like to offer free industry-specific reviews of CVs and cover letters through 31st December. That said, I also should not miss discussing the leveraging of one's network and experiences as an enabler in refining the applications of other people during such a period. Just pay it forward-assist someone in need of your skill set and/or expertise when that opportunity allows this good deed chain to be continuous. Here's where I could use your wisdom: > Have you ever searched for a job during the holidays? > Were you able to discover hidden opportunities others mightn't have found? Or did you take this time to recharge and hit the ground running in the new year? I believe that great advice can come from anywhere, sometimes in unexpected places. I'd love to just hear your stories: successes and challenges, or even over that time you accidentally donned a Santa hat to actually go in for a job interview. If you are hiring or know someone who is, or if you would like to take me up on that offer of a CV and cover letter review, please let's connect. Perhaps this festive season brings new connections and opportunities. Warmest wishes for a holiday season filled with lots of warmth, laughter, and a pinch of adventure! #OpenToWork #CareerJourney #FestiveThoughts #NewBeginnings #PayItForward

What is the best Christmas gift for someone in HR? It’s not the classic mug or another set of pens (although we do love a good notebook 😅). It’s the joy of: 🎁 Seeing employees thrive in roles they love. 🎁 Cultivating a workplace where people feel valued and heard. 🎁 Closing out the year with fewer open positions and fully executed plans for the next. 🎁 Knowing that someone’s professional journey was positively impacted because of the work you and your team accomplished. But let’s not forget the little things that make our hearts grow three sizes: 🎄 Receiving a genuine “thank you” from a colleague. 🎄 Watching the team enjoy the holiday party (without too many HR interventions). 🎄 Knowing your efforts helped create moments of belonging and celebration. As we wrap up the year, let’s reflect: What’s been your greatest HR “gift” this season? Share your wins, your moments of gratitude, or even your HR holiday wish list in the comments! 🎅 On a personal note, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to my family and friends. Your encouragement and strength empower me every day to do what I love. Here’s to celebrating the season with those who matter most. ❤️ And speaking of family, there’s nothing quite like the joy of being surrounded by loved ones during the holidays. Whether it’s sharing a meal, exchanging gifts, or simply enjoying each other’s company, these moments are the true gifts of the season. In our family, we have a few cherished traditions that make the holidays special: 🎄 Eating a pot of gumbo on Christmas Eve. 🎄 Watching our favorite holiday movie, Jingle Jangle, snuggled up on the couch. 🎄 Taking a family walk to see the neighborhood Christmas lights. Thank you to my family for being my rock and my inspiration. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories with family and friends. 🎄❤️ #HappyHolidays #HR #MyFriendinHR

A month today is Christmas Day! As a manager, the holiday season can bring both opportunities and challenges. Here are some key things to watch out for over the Christmas festivities to ensure a smooth and supportive work environment: After a year of hard work, many employees may be feeling fatigued. Watch for signs of burnout, such as decreased productivity or disengagement, and offer support or flexibility where possible. The holiday season often comes with increased workloads or last-minute tasks. Make sure tasks are fairly distributed, and that employees aren’t feeling overwhelmed by unrealistic deadlines. Plan ahead knowing that there are less work days in December. The holidays can be a stressful time, both personally and professionally. Keep an eye on team morale and foster an environment of appreciation. Small gestures of recognition can go a long way during this time. Be aware that some members of your team may not celebrate Christmas. The holiday season often means employees requesting time off to be with family or travel. Be proactive in managing schedules and ensure adequate coverage while being considerate of personal needs. While the holiday spirit is important, employees might be distracted by personal plans or celebrations. Set clear expectations for maintaining productivity while still allowing flexibility to enjoy the season. The end of the year is a great time to show appreciation for your team’s hard work. Whether through small gifts, bonuses, or team-building activities, let them know they are valued. Be clear about what behaviour is acceptable at the work Christmas party - do you have a company policy on alcohol in which case make sure everyone is aware of it. By being proactive and mindful of these factors, you can ensure your team stays motivated, happy, and productive over the holiday season. #Planning #Christmas #communication
