For the many who don’t realize that Risk Analysis is mostly a huge tower of babble, here is a great, rather long winded, explanation that Risk Analysis has a big problem. The solution is buried in the middle as “risks are not events but relationships between events.” Look forward to printing it and reading the very interesting article. The first step to fixing any problem is recognizing that there is a problem and this article is a good start. We need to restart Risk Analysis from the very beginning. - the definition of a risk. Risks are not bad events, but bad connecting mechanisms that create bad relationships.

Thanks to Marinus de Pooter for this amazing paper. It is difficult to change the foundations of how we think, see the world of risk management and execute risk management. Therefore, I highly highly recommend reading Marinus’ presentation. There is so much opportunity to evolve traditional risk management but we need to do it as a community. So take a deep breath and read on.
