We're honored to announce that our Spain PRO-WAVE1 study on monitoring patient-reported outcomes (PROs) in prostate cancer earned a prestigious poster presentation at the 2024 European Multidisciplinary Congress on Urological Cancers (EMUC) in Lisbon, Portugal! 🇵🇹 This weekend we shared key findings from our 8-clinic study, where we identified critical symptom clusters — such as sad feelings, pain, and constipation — that strongly impact patients’ quality of life. Using Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) analysis, we presented patterns that may help develop targeted, multi-symptom treatment plans to enhance patient care and improve health outcomes. UROonco24 will take place in the historic city of Budapest, Hungary, from 14:00 on Thursday 20 June, until 15:00 on Saturday 22 June 2024. This European onco-urology meeting represents a dynamic learning platform where experts and delegates can share knowledge, deliberate on the latest research, and pave the way together to improve patient outcomes. ESOU board members Dr. Gianluca Giannarini (IT) and Dr. Maria Carmen Mir Maresma (ES) share some details of the critical issues and promising developments in the field of GU cancers that are in the scientific programme this year. Insights from Dr. Giannarini: “Prostate cancer sessions will cover the whole spectrum of the disease. This year, there will be a special focus on the management of biochemical recurrence and persistence after radical prostatectomy, and of oligometastatic disease detected with PSMA PET imaging, as well as on novel strategies of treatment intensification and combination in the overt metastatic hormone-sensitive and castration-resistant setting.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/evrG7WcE

Here are the highlights from my talk last week at Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) on #pancreaticcancer #screening: • Pancreatic #cancer represents 3% of cancers and 8% of cancer related mortality •5 year survival rate of continues to be a dismal 10% • While the quality of evidence is low, screening is associated with: - psychological benefit - Yield of screening whether MRI or #EUS is used is 3 to 4% so the majority test negative - Patients diagnosed during screening have a 3 year survival of 85% as opposed to 25% of those diagnosed with symptoms - there is almost half however who has surgery without having a high risk lesion at the cost of around 20% adverse event rate - circulating tumor DNA based assay leveraging the power of #precisionmedicine and #artificialintelligence are rapidly improving and promise to change the landscape.
