As I prepare to attend the highly anticipated AfricaCom conference in Cape Town, South Africa, from November 12-14, 2024, I find myself reflecting on the remarkable evolution of the internet across the African continent. This transformational journey has not only reshaped the way we communicate and do business but has also laid the foundation for an increasingly interconnected global economy. The theme of this year's conference resonates with the current landscape of digital innovation and growth in Africa. With a burgeoning tech ecosystem, increased internet penetration, and a vibrant population of young digital natives, Africa is poised for a digital renaissance. As one of the largest gatherings of technology leaders, innovators, and stakeholders in Africa, AfricaCom serves as the perfect backdrop for engaging discussions on the challenges and opportunities facing the African internet landscape. One topic that I am particularly excited to delve into is the impact of recent investments from Arelion into the Portuguese market and how these developments can efficiently support African companies. Arelion, a global leader in wholesale networking, has made significant strides in enhancing connectivity between Europe and Africa. By expanding its operations in Portugal, Arelion not only reinforces its commitment to European markets but also positions itself as a critical player in bridging the digital divide that exists between Africa and the rest of the world. Arelion’s presence in Portugal creates an opportunity for knowledge transfer and technological collaboration between European and African tech communities. By fostering partnerships with African startups and established businesses, we can encourage the sharing of best practices, skills development, and a culture of innovation. This will be vital for Africa's perennial quest toward self-sufficiency in technology and digital services. If you are attending AfricaCom, let’s connect! #as1299 #iptransit #tier1 #400g #africacom #wavelengths
