⛔ We are leaving X. It has been a long due decision. Over a year ago, as X’s degradation became clear, we opened a Mastodon account to transition our followers gradually. Despite our consistent posting, building an active, engaged community on Mastodon has proven challenging, and we continue to work towards a vibrant space for public dialogue. X has become a hub for rising hate speech, misinformation, and toxic behaviour, eroding its capacity to support constructive discourse and democratic values. These developments strike at the heart of what FIDE stands for, and we can no longer endorse a platform that disregards the principles of respectful, inclusive dialogue. With this announcement, we call on others to support online spaces that uphold democratic values—platforms where respect, truth, and inclusivity prevail. Let’s build communities that prioritize the integrity of information and open, diverse engagement. 🐘 Follow us on Mastodon at https://lnkd.in/dGFbT6sN #DigitalDemocracy #DemocraticInnovation #DeliberativeDemocracy

Anne Heffron’s words perfectly capture my PhD research on adoptee identities, narratives and social media. I'm intrigued by the unsaid narratives and how, in adulthood, some adoptees piece together their identities, creating versions of themselves that may or may not feel more authentic. These identities can then be seen on social media, where some adoptees use their platforms to share their adoption experiences and narratives. #Adopteeldentity #AdoptionResearch #AdopteeVoices

#AltRightPipelineExposed 🚨🧠 The Alt-Right Pipeline: The Radicalisation of Young Boys ⚠️💥 🌍😡💻 The alt-right’s journey from indoctrination to violence follows a disturbing pattern, one that begins with normalization, deepens with acclimation, and culminates in dehumanization. 🎮 Young boys, starting with innocent gaming videos, can find themselves trapped in a web of harmful content thanks to algorithms designed to maximize engagement. Platforms like YouTube and TikTok, while seemingly harmless, often suggest increasingly extreme videos, leading viewers down a dangerous path. As shown by figures like Andrew Tate, who mix self-help rhetoric with toxic misogyny, the journey to extremism is often subtle and insidious. 🎯⚠️ 💡🧟♂️❌ Dehumanization is the final, and perhaps most dangerous, phase of this radicalization. By stripping certain groups of their humanity, the alt-right justifies violence and hatred. The internet echo chambers reinforce this, turning people into faceless "others" devoid of rights or empathy. 🔗 It's time to confront these toxic pipelines and demand accountability from digital platforms. Every click, every like, can lead young boys further down a dark path. ✊🌍 #WeAreManushyan ♾️EqualHumanBeings #EndDehumanization #AltRightExposed #FightHate #StayVigilant #Manushya #DigitalResponsibility 🌟🔊

Serious allegations posted online by a redditor (and other commenters) about sexual harassment, abuse and overall gender inequality they experienced at the Hungarian branch of thyssenkrupp (more precisely thyssenkrupp Automotive): https://lnkd.in/dWdNmQib Some of the claims: - There is no more room at the meeting, the girl would go out to get an extra chair. Manager says: you don't need a chair, you can sit on my face. Male managers laugh. - A girl arrives to the meeting, the manager says: oh well, the decoration is here. According to him, women do not understand anything and are only good for decoration purposes. - A male colleague bombards the girl with unsolicited sexual messages, who reports it to HR. No actions taken whatsoever. - A male colleague takes a photo of a female colleague in a short skirt in the office and shows to the other colleagues in an obscene way mentioning that she could be approached sexually. - A female colleague returns to a much lower position after giving birth, while her original position remains unfilled. She was told that the role is no longer for her, because kids often get sick, and she will have to stay home a lot. More to be found in the comments. Feel free to use Google Translate, it does the job pretty well. This would be a great opportunity for ThyssenKrupp leadership to demonstrate their commitment towards diversity, equality and inclusion. We can't wait for a public announcement about the actions they are going to take in order to solidify their reputation. I also think this could be a great opportunity for Egyenlítő Foundation to approach the company and offer their advisory and training expertise in DEI, with a main focus on gender equality. Today, our world feels more uncertain than ever. With recent political changes, many of us—especially those of us in the LGBTQ+ community—are facing renewed challenges to our rights, our safety, and our businesses. And with new economic shifts, including significant tariffs on goods from China, even the technology we rely on for growth may become harder to access. As a transgender woman and a business owner, I understand the importance of resilience in times of change. I’m here to remind you that we can still choose who and what we support. By investing in and supporting businesses owned by transgender individuals and other marginalized groups, we build a network of strength, solidarity, and shared growth. For my part, I’m committed to helping my clients navigate their website and marketing tech needs, no matter how complex the tech landscape or the economic circumstances. These shifts may feel daunting, but there are ways forward, and I’m here to help you find solutions that work for your business and your budget. If you’re concerned about how changes in tech prices or availability could impact your business, let’s talk. Together, we can develop an approach that adapts to the current environment without compromising on quality or integrity. Resilience is our collective strength. Let’s keep pushing forward, building networks that support one another, and finding solutions in the face of change.
