Credit Unions are retail sales organizations, and that’s not a bad thing. In order to grow and fulfill their missions, they must grow. To grow they must embrace sales and sales culture. I was very happy to see a strong influx of vehicle loan opportunities flood in this morning. Leads are the start of the sales funnel, now sales accountability kicks in. Our success wouldn’t be possible without our partner SimplyFocused! Sales accountability fosters a culture of transparency where performance metrics and outcomes are openly communicated. This transparency helps in identifying high performers, recognizing their efforts, and addressing underperformance through training and support. It also builds trust within the team and across the organization. Sales accountability is a vital component of growth for credit unions and other organizations. It drives performance, aligns goals, provides valuable insights, fosters transparency, enhances customer relationships, and supports strategic improvements. These factors collectively contribute to a more effective and efficient sales process, leading to sustained growth and success.

When I started Loanscape, I consumed a ton of sales content—and much of it was about wordsmithing aggressive conversations. 🚩 I thought sales meant convincing someone to use my product. Here’s the truth... That approach didn’t land us any sales. What actually did land us sales: ✅ Giving the buyer all the relevant information 👉 Different stakeholders care about different aspects of our product. ✅ Talking about the risks and trade-offs 👉 What are the trade-offs you're accepting? ✅ Discussing how to minimize risks 👉 How can we make this a safer choice for you? ✅ Doing multiple demos with stakeholders and setting up a demo account 👉 Walking them through real examples of taking in applications. ✅ Putting their outcomes over mine 👉 Ultimately, is this truly good for you? If we did all of that, then MAYBE the sale would happen. I say “maybe” because it’s not always a good fit—and that’s OK. It’s never fun saying “no” to revenue, but forcing a sale or locking customers into a deal that doesn’t truly serve them isn’t what we’re about. I’d rather lose the sale than have someone realize later that our product isn’t the right fit or doesn’t deliver what they expected. There’s plenty of that in the industry. We want to be different.

Top producers….how and why? Once again, walked onto a new sales floor, with no clients, no leads, and no help. 23 cars sold, first sales day was the 5th of the month. Median credit score sub 600. 43.5% closing ratio on “opportunities”…. No in house financing, just the usual sub-prime lenders available. The How: Bell to bell, treat every opportunity like it is one, and if you let said opportunity leave, plan on following. The Why: Work to live….well😉
