💼 Time for the EE team to return from the packed program of the Solarplaza Asset Management Europe in Prague, one of the big gatherings of the sector in Europe … I feel a bit tired mid-week already. 🤝 Thanks to Solarplaza for organizing and thanks to all the industry colleagues for the interesting talks, inspirations. ⚡ Hybrid plants, batteries, general energy storage, curtailments, negative prices, ESG, AI, sharper KPIs, build-out of grids, NIS 2, module and inverter recycling, trading algos, … are some terms that keep ringing in my ears. ➡ #SAMEU was a of good inspiration for keeping the energy transition going. 【MOU to develop "Green Corridor" lead by Madoqua!】 We are happy to announce that we signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to develop a green corridor connecting Portugal to Northern Europe with Madoqua Renewables Holding Lda (Madoqua)(Note) and other global leaders. This Green Corridor project aims to establish a shipping route where low-emission shipping solutions are utilized and low carbon fuels are transported. Global industry leaders from Europe, Asia and North America have come together to support the development of this Green Corridor. The collaboration includes diverse sections of the energy transition value chain, including financial partners, terminal operators, academic and policy institutions, industrial corporates committed to decarbonization, green fuel producers and alternative fuel off-takers. 🔋 𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐚: home to over 120 cleantech companies, working to reduce greenhouse emissions by 73% between 1990-2030. 📈 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞: invested €3.2 billion in venture capital in the cleantech sector in 2023. What happens when these two innovation powerhouses come together? Synergy and innovation were in full force on October 14th at the French-Estonian Cleantech Business Forum in Tallinn. Fusebox CEO Tarvo Õng participated in a panel discussion on Cleantech and decarbonized energy, alongside Priit Lepasepp from Sunly, Xavier Bernard from Sapaic, and Edouard Dubrana from EDDU Energy. Tarvo Õng shared Fusebox’s 10+ years of expertise in managing flexible energy assets through our EMS and VPP solutions. Already supporting energy companies in France, Fusebox is optimizing services nationwide and is excited to expand further. The event highlighted opportunities for collaboration between Estonian and French companies to accelerate the green transition. Rondo Energy officially joined the Cleantech for Iberia coalition last week! Great to represent Rondo at such a special moment. Cleantech for Iberia brought together key investors, innovators and policy makers at Unicorn Factory Lisboa for an in-depth discussion about Green Reindustralisation of Iberia, leveraging the abundant solar and wind resources. My key input was around the demand side flexibility in the energy system. It is crucial for the growth of renewables, stability of the power system and the decarbonization of the industry, all at the same time. But we need some significant regulatory changes to stimulate demand side flex as much as other flex options: a.      Supply side flex assets (e.g. gas-fired power plants) don´t pay any energy taxes or grid fees. b.      Grid neutral flex assets such as batteries have been exempted from grid charges and taxes – and rightly so! c.      But demand side flex assets are currently still paying the same grid costs and taxes/surcharges as non-flexible assets. Happy to see strong support of key stakeholders such as Salvador Malheiro, President of the Parliamentary Committee for Energy and Environment, sharing that “Cleantech is a bridge to a resilient and competitive economy. We need to create a supportive policy environment to catalyse growth on Iberia’s cleantech sector.” And Nelson Lage, President of ADENE - Agência para a Energia, who shared his strong motivation to boost cleantech in Iberia and to do it now. Thornton Science Park has been acquired by Essar Energy Transition (EET) through a signed sale and purchase agreement. This transaction has been completed as part of EET’s plan to create one of Europe’s leading energy transition hubs. The company decided to do this, due to their aim to lead the North West’s energy transition. A significant role has been played by Thornton Science Park, which neighbours EET Fuel’s Stanlow Manufacturing Complex and spans sixty-six acres. This role involves identifying sustainable energy sources, which are being sought out in order to help address meeting the UK’s 2050 net zero emissions target. The article below focuses on a new purchase agreement which will significantly benefit the carbon industry, as well as multiple parties involved in the deal.
