One of the themes for this year's National Road Safety Week is "Drive in the moment + avoid distraction". This one in particular stood out to us - it seems so simple and yet can make the biggest difference to those you share the road with. Staying present and focused on the road is essential for your safety and the safety of others. Here’s why it's important to drive in the moment and how you can avoid distractions: 1. Eyes on the Road: Keep your attention on the road ahead and be mindful of your surroundings. This way, you can anticipate and respond to any changes in traffic conditions. 2. Hands on the Wheel: Avoid using your phone, eating, or engaging in other activities that take your hands off the wheel. Maintain control of your vehicle at all times. 3. Mind on Driving: Stay mentally engaged in your driving, avoid daydreaming or focusing on non-driving-related thoughts. 4. Plan Ahead: Set your GPS and adjust your radio or climate control before you start driving. This helps minimise distractions while you're on the move. 5. Be Mindful of Passengers: Interactions with passengers can be distracting. Keep conversations light and avoid intense discussions while driving. It's always better to be safe than sorry. #roadsafety #drivingdistractions #waroads #nationalroadsafetyweek #fleets #fleetware #perthtrucking

1. Rewind: Reflect on your past driving experiences. Think about any close calls or mistakes and learn from them. This helps you become a more cautious and aware driver. 2. Pause: Take a moment to pause and assess your surroundings. Whether it’s checking your mirrors, ensuring you’re not distracted, or simply taking a deep breath, pausing can help you stay focused and calm. 3. Stop: Always stop and think before making decisions on the road. Whether it’s stopping at a red light, a stop sign, or pausing to check your surroundings, taking a moment can prevent accidents. 4. Fast Forward: Look ahead and anticipate potential hazards. Planning your moves in advance, like changing lanes or merging, helps you stay prepared and avoid sudden maneuvers. 5. Play: Stay focused and present while driving. Enjoy the journey, but keep your attention on the road. Avoid distractions like texting or fiddling with the radio. By incorporating these concepts, you can promote a culture of safe driving and help prevent crashes. 🕒 𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐨 “𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤” 𝐨𝐧 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 2, 2024! As Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 2 a.m., it's essential to adjust your clocks back one hour. This change means earlier sunsets and increased nighttime driving, which can elevate the risk of accidents due to factors like reduced visibility and driver fatigue. Here are some key tips to help you stay safe on the roads for fleet drivers and managers during this transition: 🔹 Adjust Fleet Schedules Consider altering schedules to minimize nighttime driving and reduce the risk of fatigue-related crashes. If possible, prioritize routes that are well-lit and avoid areas with high wildlife activity at dusk and dawn. 🔹 Improve Visibility Make sure your headlights are clean and properly aligned. Consider using them during twilight hours to enhance your visibility and help others see you. 🔹 Perform Vehicle Safety Checks Remind fleet drivers to conduct thorough pre-trip inspections, especially focusing on headlights, brake lights, and tires, to ensure optimal performance in low-light conditions. 🔹 Educate Drivers on Fatigue Management Reinforce training on recognizing signs of fatigue and the importance of taking breaks. Adjusting to the time change can take days, making drivers more susceptible to tiredness. 🔹Update Safety Policies Ensure all drivers are aware of the company's safety policies, including rules about using high beams appropriately and the importance of reducing speed during nighttime driving. 🔹Leverage Telematics Use telematics data to monitor nighttime driving patterns and identify opportunities to improve safety, such as coaching drivers who might be at higher risk during low-visibility hours. As Daylight Saving Time ends, remember that shorter days and earlier sunsets mean more nighttime driving, which increases the risk of crashes. Take a moment to prepare: Adjust your clocks, clean your windshields, and drive cautiously in the darker hours. Stay safe, stay aware, and let’s drive smarter this fall! 🍂🚗💡 #DaylightSavingTime #FallBack #DriverSafety #AdvancedDriverTrainingServices #StaySafe #DriverSafety #SafeDriving #DistractedDriving #RoadSafety #DriverTraining #FleetSafety #FleetManagers #FleetManagement #StaySafe
