Some of you may know how much I love delving into data and insights SOOO here’s something we haven’t shared with our clients yet. Last week had a pleasure to present at the Insights day alongside lovely Camilla King. We analysed data from the most recent student review collection highlighting some key trends that we’ve noticed over the last few years. Whilst we couldn't cover the wealth of data we have readily available, today I looked at overall university ratings over the last 7 years looking at top and bottom 3 regions and included some highlights below: -Northern Ireland had the highest increase in the ratings since 2018 – significant increase showcasing a continuous student satisfaction in this region -Greater London and Easter England also showing tremendous improvements that happened since 2018 -Wales and Scotland reveal slowest growth - particularly in the areas of career prospects Whilst rankings are changing annually and vary from institution to institution (reach out to your account manager to get a bespoke performance comparison and analysis) it allows us to understand how changes that institutions have been making in the last 7 years are impacting their student experience which, we hope, will drive further progress and developments. #wuscas

The data showing the first decline in those eligible for free school meals going to university is worthy of a pause. It is the first decline since 2005/06. Why could this be happening? 1. The costs of going to university are perceived to be higher than at any previous point (cost of living, loan interest rates compared to 2005/06). 2. There are credible alternative choices available (degree apprenticeships, in work training and progression). 3. The value of a university education has come through a period of being questioned in a sustained way by the government of the day. In the end, it is one year of data but it should be a wake-up call. Tackling structural disadvantage is a long term investment and needs sustained effort. It is why we have moved into a new home in The Quad, Station Quarter, Telford. This is not a project. An initiative. It is a determined statement of commitment and intent to those currently not accessing our high quality education and leading employability outcomes from #Telford and wider #Shropshire that our door is wide open. Our new courses focus on pathways to well paid jobs which are future focused. We are in the community, integrated with Telford College and Invest Telford to demonstrate the value that education and skills will give individuals at different stages of their lives. Our #DiscoveryDay is an easy way to find out more. You are welcome to drop in on 2 November 2024. I am less concerned by the one year data in itself. I am concerned that it might represent individuals who have missed an opportunity which could be life changing. In the end, individuals have the right to make a choice. My only concern is ensuring that every person who has the potential to benefit from a higher level and university education has the barriers to doing so removed. We are actively seeking individuals and organisations willing to contribute to first and continuing year scholarships to support cost of living expenses. If you know a person from Telford, #Shropshire or the wider Midlands area who could benefit from a university education and excellent employment prospects, please encourage them to drop in. We are keen to ensure they have the information to make a good choice. #togetherwewillmakethedifference #opportunity #choice Telford & Wrekin Council Shropshire Chamber of Commerce NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Ricoh UK Capgemini Coforge JCB JLR TAFE - Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited Jacqui Smith GuildHE Future Leaders UK Agilent Technologies Schneider Electric ABP Food Group MULLER DAIRY (U.K.) LIMITED McConnel Faccenda Foods Ltd Shaun Davies

Thanks for presenting on this important topic at ISSP!
Collaborative. Meticulous. Genuine. Articulate. Innovative. Quick-Thinking. Timely. Energetic. Kind.
Over the last three days, I had the privilege of experiencing one of the most significant highlights of my career— attending the Institute for Student Services Professionals (ISSP) 2024 Conference at our very own, Rutgers University–New Brunswick! I met amazing colleagues from all over the country, with common goals for a productive and moving exchange of ideas— all in the service of supporting students. Thank you so much to my incredible work family, my fellow presenters, Alyssa Zalewski, M.S.Ed. and Andrea DiSanto, M.S.Ed. and all the attendees. This was a conference to remember!

Finding ways to increase student success is everyone's business and creating opportunity and establishing a sense of 'place' is a way to get a head start. #studentsuccess #ItTakesAVillage #StudentSuccessisEveryonesBusiness
Twenty students from West Virginia high schools have been selected to participate in this year’s Datha and Gene Smith Fellowship program. The exclusive fellowship program was developed to assist first-generation college students with their transition from high school to college. Unlike scholarships, fellowships provide long-term support, rather than one-time financial disbursement. This cohort of 20 students is Fairmont State’s largest yet. To begin the process of college life, selected students will attend a summer bridge program. For five days in July, members of the cohort will live on Fairmont State’s campus and experience life as college students. This program eases the anxiety of the transition from high school to college through casual gatherings, complete tours of the campus, and ongoing assistance from advisors who are there to answer any questions. This year’s bridge program is set to run from July 6 through 11. “Our bridge program allows first-generation college students to obtain the information they need to be successful during their time at Fairmont State University,” said Justin Rader, Associate Director of Orientation and Transition Programs at Fairmont State. How to turn your Family Visit into a College Tour. ✈️ I had the opportunity to return to Washington, DC, where I was born and raised. 🏛️ Not only did I get an opportunity to revisit some of the iconic locations within the Nation’s Capitol, but I decided to register for an actual campus tour of Georgetown University. 💻 If a group tour is available, sign up for a formal tour. 🗺️ Otherwise, many college campuses offer self-guided tours for you to tour on your own. By visiting the campus, we had the opportunity to… ✅ View facilities. ✅ Hear from an Admissions professional. ✅ See inside some of the buildings. ✅ See inside the dormitories where students reside. 🧑🧑🧒🧒 Also, it was a great opportunity to meet other families who were interested in the university and why. ⛪️ Georgetown University is a private university. Some would consider this in a suburban area because it is right inside the city limits of DC, but very close to the Northern Virginia border. Visits like these can help a student-athlete distinguish between a university that's… 🤔 …within the city vs outside of the city. 🤔 Is it in a suburban area? 🤔 Is it in a rural area? 🧐 Again, more information that you can take in as a family to decide if this is the right place and the right fit for my student-athlete. 👍🏾 As a family, take advantage of family moments and visits to a new city during an athletic tournament to add to your repertoire when considering the next place for your student-athlete.

We believe that building stronger, smoother, accelerated pathways between K-12 education, postsecondary education, and careers is not only necessary to grow our economy, but also to address inequality in our communities. Our work leading the #AccelerateED community is central to this mission. We wanted to know, what would it take for every high school student to have the opportunity to earn college credits without the financial burden? To complete an associate degree one year after high school? To gain valuable experience and career preparation in a field of interest during high school? And while we are excited to tell you all about this work, instead we think it’s better to hear directly from the students who are most impacted by it. Up first in our new student voice video series, meet Qamar Ayyoubi, a rising senior at Kettering Fairmont High School in Ohio and nursing pathway student, is earning college credits in high school toward a degree and high-demand career in healthcare: https://lnkd.in/g8wRcZZS
