We read this morning of the sudden closure of Flambards Theme Park in Cornwall. There is nothing to celebrate in the loss of a UK attraction and with it the immediate jobs and community impact it will have. What we noted was they cited maintenance costs and sourcing of parts for ageing equipment as a contributing factor. Disappointing to read! Fletcher Moorland is actively working with many major UK attractions on their rides, attractions and transportation systems. This includes servicing and upgrading equipment that is 40+ years old. At Fletcher Moorland we specialise in the repair, refurbishment, and maintenance of electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, and we’re here to support UK theme parks and attractions with all their ride and equipment needs. Our services are designed to keep your attractions running smoothly and safely, so you can focus on providing a great experience for your visitors. We understand how crucial it is for rides to operate consistently without unexpected downtime. That’s why we offer both reactive repairs and preventative maintenance to ensure your equipment is always in top condition. Our preventative maintenance programmes are especially valuable, as they help to catch issues before they become bigger problems, saving you from expensive emergency repairs and extending the life of your rides. One of the key ways we can help your theme park is by upgrading legacy drives and controls. We know that many rides rely on older systems, and finding replacement parts for these can be challenging. Our team can retrofit or modernise these systems with up-to-date controls, ensuring your rides perform better and are more reliable. Upgrades can also help improve energy efficiency and reduce running costs. What’s more, we offer a 24/7 service (Open 365 days a year), so if any of your rides break down, we can respond quickly to get them up and running again with minimal disruption. With our technical expertise, quick response times, and commitment to quality, we’re ready to be your reliable partner in keeping your rides and attractions in top shape all year round. If you’re looking for a engineering maintenance partner who is as invested in keeping your equipment running as you are then Fletcher Moorland could be the answer. For all those impacted by this closure we wish you swift re-employment. 📨 hello@fletchermoorland.co.uk 📞 01782 411021 *Pictured is Jimmy working on a BBC Motor including carrying out a Baker Test. #ThemePark #Attractions #RideMaintenance #MaintenanceEngineering #Engineering #ElectricalEngineering #MechanicalEngineering #AssetManagement

Harvey Thatch Roof Tiles are chosen for Skukuza Rest Camp Refurbishment. Harvey Thatch will provide beauty and sanctuary at Skukuza Rest Camp, the Kruger National Park’s largest rest camp and administrative headquarters. For over a million visitors to the park, of which 20% are foreign tourists, Skukuza is the centre of activity for their bush adventure. In keeping with modern accommodation trends, South African National Parks (SANparks) has identified the need for the upgrade and refurbishment of the Skukuza Camp. SANParks have embarked on a progressive project to modernise the facilities while retaining the much-loved Skukuza magic. Skukuza ‘s vast complex of buildings offer various styles of accommodation, but they share one characteristic: Natural thatch roofs. Guests delight in the safari feel of thatch roofs, which create a natural and uniquely African impression. But for all its charm, natural thatch roofs give rise to vast maintenance challenges for the SANParks team. Unsightly gables and rooftop fire sprayers, natural deterioration and damage caused by wildlife are just a few of the recurring problems. After thorough consideration of all available options, SANParks concluded that Harvey Thatch was the only product that could eliminate the maintenance headaches whilst retaining the natural look and feel that visitors enjoy. Harvey Thatch provides a low maintenance, naturally beautiful and fire resistant alternative to natural thatch.

Yesterday, Döhle Yachts Fleet Technical Manager, Piers Flood, reflected on the changing needs and requests of yacht owners. This discussion prompted us to consider how our industry approaches the evolving landscape of yacht ownership. Based on our experience and some of your insights, Piers shares recommendations for technical managers to meet the extended requirements of yacht owners: - Long-Term Maintenance Planning: Consider incremental works to shorten maintenance periods and reduce costs per cycle. Align with the yacht owners’ patterns of use. - Preserving Assets for the Long Term: Manage larger works well in advance. Use the concept "What will keep the yacht fresh and relevant?" to prevent the yacht from becoming tired or suffering from poor reliability or corrosion. Be mindful of expenditure, including major changes. - Future-Proofing: Opt for methods that ensure long-term resilience during maintenance periods. Examples include pulling extra cabling for future electrical needs or exploring alternate/hybrid propulsion systems for lower emissions. - Enhanced Guest Stays: Prepare for longer guest stays by increasing holding tank capacity, improving food storage, and enhancing crew recreation facilities. - Cosmetic Upgrades: Collaborate with yacht owners, or their advisors/family office, to maintain a fresh appearance. Prioritise safety and medical improvements alongside fun enhancements, such as tender/toy upgrades. - Industry Collaboration: Engage in ongoing discussions with Flag, Class, and other authorities. Understand upcoming changes and restrictions to ensure seamless yacht operation in line with the owners’ wishes. Owners' wants and needs are indeed evolving, so staying attuned to those changes is crucial. For Döhle Yachts' technical managers, we believe it is important to stay adaptable, keep abreast of industry trends, and maintain strong relationships with owners during any project. #dohleyachts #superyachtmanangement #technicalyachtmanagement #doehle

1moIt's truly unfortunate to hear about the closure of Flambards Theme Park and the impact it will have on the community. Fletcher Moorland's dedication to maintaining and upgrading rides is commendable, especially given the challenges of dealing with aging equipment. Keeping attractions running smoothly with preventative maintenance and modernisation is indeed essential for the longevity and safety of these treasured experiences. Your commitment to supporting UK theme parks during such tough times is incredibly important. Keep up the great work!
