We read this morning of the sudden closure of Flambards Theme Park in Cornwall. There is nothing to celebrate in the loss of a UK attraction and with it the immediate jobs and community impact it will have. What we noted was they cited maintenance costs and sourcing of parts for ageing equipment as a contributing factor. Disappointing to read! Fletcher Moorland is actively working with many major UK attractions on their rides, attractions and transportation systems. This includes servicing and upgrading equipment that is 40+ years old. At Fletcher Moorland we specialise in the repair, refurbishment, and maintenance of electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, and we’re here to support UK theme parks and attractions with all their ride and equipment needs. Our services are designed to keep your attractions running smoothly and safely, so you can focus on providing a great experience for your visitors. We understand how crucial it is for rides to operate consistently without unexpected downtime. That’s why we offer both reactive repairs and preventative maintenance to ensure your equipment is always in top condition. Our preventative maintenance programmes are especially valuable, as they help to catch issues before they become bigger problems, saving you from expensive emergency repairs and extending the life of your rides. One of the key ways we can help your theme park is by upgrading legacy drives and controls. We know that many rides rely on older systems, and finding replacement parts for these can be challenging. Our team can retrofit or modernise these systems with up-to-date controls, ensuring your rides perform better and are more reliable. Upgrades can also help improve energy efficiency and reduce running costs. What’s more, we offer a 24/7 service (Open 365 days a year), so if any of your rides break down, we can respond quickly to get them up and running again with minimal disruption. With our technical expertise, quick response times, and commitment to quality, we’re ready to be your reliable partner in keeping your rides and attractions in top shape all year round. If you’re looking for a engineering maintenance partner who is as invested in keeping your equipment running as you are then Fletcher Moorland could be the answer. For all those impacted by this closure we wish you swift re-employment. 📨 hello@fletchermoorland.co.uk 📞 01782 411021 *Pictured is Jimmy working on a BBC Motor including carrying out a Baker Test. #ThemePark #Attractions #RideMaintenance #MaintenanceEngineering #Engineering #ElectricalEngineering #MechanicalEngineering #AssetManagement

We're in the thick of 'International Short-Term Rental Safety Month' here at Breezeway, and week 3 has been brimming with valuable tips! As part of our enduring commitment, we'll keep serving up daily insights and shining a spotlight on hosts, companies, or agencies that prioritize safety all through April. Bill Faeth, the Founder of Build Short Term Rental Wealth, often underscores the significance of having a hot tub at your vacation rentals—and I couldn't agree more. Hot tubs are a coveted amenity among guests and can even generate extra revenue. However, before installing a hot tub elevated on decks at your short-term rental, it's imperative to have the deck thoroughly inspected to ensure it can bear the weight of the hot tub, occupants, and any other items on the deck. It's also crucial to schedule regular inspections every five years. For professional managers considering a property with a hot tub on a deck, a thorough inspection is non-negotiable. For a deeper exploration of topics like these, consider enrolling in the Breezeway Short-Term Rental Safety Course. I started my first book, which is focused on Sundance Mountain Resort and tells the stories of multiple accidents that happened in one zipline location. Opening Title: "Our ZipSafe Initiative: Planning a vacation never includes a trip to the Morgue" "The ZipSafe, LLC, (dba Momentum Engineering) Initiative is dedicated to enhancing safety standards within the ziplining industry through decades of research and innovative solutions. We are founded on the principles of ensuring the utmost safety for zipline enthusiasts, the initiative aims to address and mitigate the risks associated with ziplining, particularly focusing on braking mechanisms. Research and Findings Through an extensive investigation involving one hundred (100) zipline accidents over ten years, the ZipSafe team has identified critical safety concerns that still plague the industry. (The Standards must Mandate Emergency Brakes for all zipline cables.) The key finding from this research is the dominance of braking-related accidents, which constitute over 50% of all incidents. My research suggests that if ALL ziplines were required, mandating properly designed E-brakes (self-resetting) could cut the accidents down to half its current totals. In the United States, building and operating amusement rides, including ziplines, is governed by many codes and standards. Entities such as ASTM F24, ANSI B.77, ANSI/ACCT, the International Association of Amusement Parks, and Attractions (IAAPA), and ANSI/PRCA (Professional Ropes Course Association) set the qualifications and regulations for building, installing, and maintaining ziplines. According to ANSI B77 B77.1, 2.1.1.4, there must be no obstacles within five feet of ropes, track cables, and carriers under design operating conditions, and carriers should not contact any obstacle during operation, even under adverse wind conditions. Furthermore, environmental loads like wind and temperature changes must be considered to ensure safety. A tragic example highlighting these safety concerns involves Lisa Lambe, who lost her life due to negligence at Sundance Mountain Resort ("SR"). Despite utilizing professional engineers and a renowned zipline designer, Terra Nova ("TN"), SR failed to heed crucial wind conditions on the day of the incident. On May 20, 2016, strong winds were reported, but the zipline operation continued despite warnings. This disregard for weather conditions and failure to follow safety protocols resulted in a fatal accident."

Harvey Thatch Roof Tiles are chosen for Skukuza Rest Camp Refurbishment. Harvey Thatch will provide beauty and sanctuary at Skukuza Rest Camp, the Kruger National Park’s largest rest camp and administrative headquarters. For over a million visitors to the park, of which 20% are foreign tourists, Skukuza is the centre of activity for their bush adventure. In keeping with modern accommodation trends, South African National Parks (SANparks) has identified the need for the upgrade and refurbishment of the Skukuza Camp. SANParks have embarked on a progressive project to modernise the facilities while retaining the much-loved Skukuza magic. Skukuza ‘s vast complex of buildings offer various styles of accommodation, but they share one characteristic: Natural thatch roofs. Guests delight in the safari feel of thatch roofs, which create a natural and uniquely African impression. But for all its charm, natural thatch roofs give rise to vast maintenance challenges for the SANParks team. Unsightly gables and rooftop fire sprayers, natural deterioration and damage caused by wildlife are just a few of the recurring problems. After thorough consideration of all available options, SANParks concluded that Harvey Thatch was the only product that could eliminate the maintenance headaches whilst retaining the natural look and feel that visitors enjoy. Harvey Thatch provides a low maintenance, naturally beautiful and fire resistant alternative to natural thatch.
