Did you know... wolf's bane is also known as monkshood? Aconitum has striking blue flowers that look almost like little helmets, earning it nicknames like "wolf's bane" and "monkshood." This blue beauty is a favorite among bees, especially bumblebees, who love to gather nectar from its blooms. Thyreus sp. also known as cuckoo bees, are parasitic bees often characterized by their striking black-and-white or blue-and-black coloration. These bees are known to visit flowers like the Painted Nettle (Coleus) for nectar. Unlike other bees, they do not collect pollen for nesting but are often seen feeding on flower nectar. They hover near flowers with rapid, darting movements and can be recognized by their robust, hairy bodies and large, dark eyes. Flickr- https://flic.kr/p/2qnFJR6

A. melanopus adults (Cinnamon clownfish) can grow to 12 cm (4.7 inches). The body of A. melanopus is a dark red to orange with mahogany sides. Juveniles and adults have a white head band, which is wide and starts behind the eye, which may gave a blue tint. The dorsal and caudal fins of the fish have a lighter color than the rest of the fish and can sometimes be a cinnamon color. The pelvic and anal fins are usually black. Look at this video around Vava'u in Tonga! How many of these cinnamon fish do you count? Normally I only see just 4 or 5 of these at the same place, but this time I saw 30 to 40 of them! It is amazing, isn't it? #nemofish #cinnamonfish #anemoon #anemonefish #anemones #seaanemones #clownfish #findingnemo #vavau #cinnamonclownfish #orangefish #beautifulfish #softcorals #softcoral #clownvis #oceanlifephotography #marinelifephotography #underwatervideography #underwatervideo #onderwaterfotografie #duikeninbeeld #duiken #padidiver #scubadivingworlds #scubadivingadventures #paditv #oceantv #marinelifeconservation #protecttheocean #protectthesea

🌼 A bee does not know from birth where the flowers are or what exactly they look like. She does not know how to manipulate them and whether they contain nectar or pollen. 🐝 There is no experience on her first flight whether a flower is a good resource or poor or if they have been depleted already by another pollinator. All these things have to be explored and learned by each individual bee. 🧠 In other words, a bee has to learn a looot in its short adult lifetime of around three weeks or it will neither find its way home nor become an efficient flower forager. 🍯 A foraging bee will have to visit 1000 flowers and fly 10km to fill its honey stomach once. 100 such trips are necessary to generate a teaspoon of honey. 🔐 Visiting 1000 flowers means learning and remembering up to 1000 floral puzzles on how to actually get to the nectar. These mechanics can be as complicated as operating a lock. 🧭 And it means to fly through natural habitats of repetitive and similar patterns over large distances yet still be able to find the hive, find rewarding flower patches and knowing when these flowers are available at which time of the day. 👉🏼 A tiny brain in a tiny animal, yet their capabilities are mindblowing. 👏🏼 📗 Reading tip: "The mind of a bee" by Lars Chittka #mindofabee #natureisstunning #macrophotography #pollinators #uzzyself

This male tiger, in search of food, was stealthily moving through the tall grass surrounding a pond that, under the season’s heat, had turned into a muddy puddle. Suddenly, he stopped. His sharp eyes had spotted something weakly wriggling in the murky water: a large catfish, trapped in the drying pond. The catfish, once the master of these waters, was struggling desperately. The tiger’s shadow stretched across the water, and in one final thrash, the fish froze, as if it understood that the predator was very close. For the tiger, it was a windfall, an easy prey, requiring little effort but promising a good meal. The tiger approached, his paws sinking into the mud, creating small ripples on the water’s surface. He observed the catfish for a moment, savoring this moment of total control. Then, with a swift and precise motion, he plunged his massive paw into the pond, seizing the fish without the slightest hesitation. The fish weakly struggled, but its efforts were in vain; there was no escape. The tiger pulled his catch out of the water, grasping it between his powerful jaws. He retreated to a dry spot, laid down his prey, and began to tear into the tender flesh of the catfish, taking advantage of this unexpected opportunity. In nature, chances like these are rare, and the tiger knew how to seize them. @_planettiger_ @greg Macall peat #fish #safariwithplanettiger #tiger #indianwildlife #bigcat #wildlife #nature #mother #bandhavgarh #safari #peace #natgeotravelindia #natgeo #natgeoyourshot #ranthambore #wildlifephotography #leopard #sony # #instagood #trendingreels #trendingnow #viral #explore #tigres #tigers #association #associationplanetetigre #ngoplanettiger

Repeating Spider Patterns in Nature It amazes me how nature repeats its patterns. One pattern is the spider pattern. Sea spiders are like on land spiders with both having eight walking legs. More amazing are spider plants, spider flowers and spider lily. They are all plants but belong to different families. These plants got their names because their leaves or flowers look like the walking legs of spiders. Are these patterns repeating randomly or they serve a purpose? Nature seeks efficient solutions. In spite of the varying environments in which these plants grow they are consistent with their spider patterns. Nature is amazing. #patterns #spiderlily #spiderflowers #spiderplant #nature
