Mental health has become one of the most pressing issues that affect individuals from all walks of life, including those in our church communities. While churches often spend time and resources focusing on ministries related to spiritual development and growth, such as marriage, parenting, outreach, and youth, it is equally essential to address the mental health needs of their congregants. Check out our latest blog post on why your church needs a mental health ministry.

Check out the link below to an article today in In Daily penned by Geoff Harris at the Mental Health Coalition of SA, "Time to stop the buck-passing over mental health". It reflects our view that good quality community based psychosocial supports which help people remain well and connected in their community, are a human right! And not only that - they are cheaper than hospital and emergency services and they help stop the blockages in our health system. Have a read here: https://lnkd.in/g8Y_arxb

📅 Days like Suicide Awareness Day are crucial in shining a spotlight on mental health struggles and starting important conversations. 💬 But talking is just the beginning—there’s still so much more we need to do to truly tackle mental health challenges. We need better funding, faster access to treatment, mental health support in schools and in the workplace💙 Let’s keep pushing for real change, because mental health care is a right, not a privilege. Together, we can make a difference. https://ow.ly/jqj450TkOUy #SuicideAwareness #MentalHealthMatters #BreakTheStigma #MentalHealthForAll #OxfordshireMind #SupportIsHere

WE ARE MAKING HISTORY - WWW.YOURWELLNESSCLINIC.ORG He walked into my office not knowing what to expect, a popular and well-respected personality in the society and of course very rich too. We began his session and about 50 minutes later, he busted into tears and said, Madam where have you been, I have attempted suicide three times…. “The emphasis on my client’s financial status above is to reiterate the fact that mental health issues are no respecter of status and against popular belief, money will not make your mental health issues go away automatically.” I have seen cases of serious anxiety disorder, depression that has paralyzed people’s whole existence, 15 years of sexless marriages, messy family and marital separations, serious sexual dysfunction, post-partum depression, OCD, PTSD, overwhelming sadness, confusion, existential crisis, loneliness, addiction of various types, and the lists are endless… Nothing is as fulfilling as living one’s dream, not just living the dream, but being able to give hope to the hopeless and be the reason people find new meaning in their lives and can live again. A psychiatrist recently said in an interview that 85% of psychiatric cases in Yaba Psychiatric Hospital are a result of relationship issues, this should explain to you the level of ignorance around the role of professional counselors and therapists in making sure people move towards optimal functionality rather than mental illness in the mental health spectrum. Over the years, The Institute Of Counseling In Nigeria though our little beginning started very small, today, we have graduated over 500 Professional Counselors and still counting. Part of our dream is to make therapy accessible to everyone irrespective of their background, belief, or status, a feat we intend to achieve not only by training Counselors but by also offering a platform where all Nigerians can have their minds checked. We have tried to have this platform over the years but were unable to due to various bottlenecks, but today we have been able to achieve this feat, a platform where all Nigerians, Africans, and the whole world can walk into access counseling on their terms. We have always known that professional counseling is the new generational skill for optimal functionality and societal development and that is why we are playing our part in making sure that people think, feel, and act right. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: Your Wellness Clinic - Recover, regain, relief. ** The Executive Director: Dr. Tolulope Oko-Igaire Speech during the lunch of www.yourwellnessclinic.org the online therapy arm of The Institute of Counseling in Nigeria.
