And we're 🔴LIVE with Xuzi Kang, Ph.D. for our lipstick webinar on the Latest Developments in Lip Care Products Testing Methods & Claims at TRI Princeton. Learn More & Register (there's still time to join!) ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gGUgz_uE In this free webinar, Xuzi Kang, Ph.D. (Postdoctoral Fellow, TRI Princeton) will describe several measurement techniques recently developed at TRI to evaluate the performance of lipsticks. She will explain how these methods can be used to substantiate product claims, and set your brand apart. This presentation will describe tests that can measure the properties of the lipstick stick itself (hardness, stickiness and melting behavior), lipstick spreadability (pay-off and layering friction), color effects, and, lipstick transfer and longevity. The care of the lips and prevention of dryness and cracking is always an important consumer need. This presentation will, therefore, also describe the tests available to measure lip hydration, based on spectroscopy and on skin electrical impedance measurements. The pros and cons of these approaches will be discussed. #cosmeticsindustry #lipstick #skintesting #biochemistry #researchanddevelopment #triprinceton

We are excited to introduce you to the first of our "How Can I See..." monthly series! 🕵🏻 How Can I See... Elastic Fibers? Elastic fibers are widely distributed throughout the body in tissue that requires movement, such as in skin, arteries and veins, and lung tissue. The number of elastic fibers may be increased or decreased due to disease, and can also be used to demonstrate that a structure is a blood vessel. Elastic fibers are resistant to autolysis and are quite easily fixed. Under ultra-violet light, they may have a green to blue-white fluorescence. The coarser fibers can often be seen in H&E stained sections as a smooth, pale pink material. However, fine fibers are much more difficult or impossible to see, requiring more selective staining methods, including orcein dye, iron resorcin fuchsin, and iron hematoxylin staining.
