FRIDAY FAQ's - Sponsorship
Q: If I sponsor an event, am I able to claim this as a taxable deduction?
A: If there is a direct correlation between the event sponsorship, and promotion of your business, then the expenditure can be a taxable deduction.
An example where a taxable deduction may be allowed is for an accounting firm that sponsors performances of an opera to gain exposure to likely attendees of the performances.
An example where it would NOT be considered a taxable deduction include the sponsorship of a sporting activity that is a hobby of the business proprietor but a completely different activity from the business.

Supporting businesses unlock their limitless potential
Had a fantastic morning yesterday at Harlaxton Manor at the Decarbonisation and sustainability workshop.
My big takeaway from the day was no matter the size of your business just take action 'messy action' is better then no action, we may not always get it right first time but we can learn and try again. Now is the time to take action if you have not started already.
Thank you Paul Green, South Kesteven District Council SKDC and the Chamber for putting on such an informative event

Your Pot of Gold: Unleashing Your Inner Innovator This St. Patrick's Day 🇮🇪
While green rivers and shamrock decorations are fun, St. Patrick's Day offers a surprising lesson for professionals: it's a day to celebrate innovation!
St. Patrick, the Unexpected Innovator
Legend tells the tale of St. Patrick introducing a completely new concept – a complex system of thought – to a land with established traditions.
The Innovation Mindset:
Here's how St. Patrick's story translates to your professional world:
- Challenge the Status Quo: He wasn't afraid to tackle a big idea, even in the face of resistance. Just like in any field, sometimes the best solutions come from disrupting the norm.
- Adapt and Be Creative: He found ways to connect with the people, using their familiar symbols (like the shamrock) to explain a new concept. Think outside the box to make complex ideas accessible.
- Focus on Impact: His goal wasn't just presenting something new, but creating a lasting and positive influence. Always consider the real-world value of your work.
So, how will you find your professional pot of gold?
- Embrace innovation! Be bold, creative, and think outside the box. Just like St. Patrick, find ways to make a positive impact in your field.
Happy St. Patrick's Day! ☘️ #innovation#professionaldevelopment#StPatricksDay

We’d like to add our voice to support our colleagues in France: considered by many as the world leader in cultural policy, where #Nantes – a city widely admired as a dynamic cultural hub – and the Pays de la Loire, proposes budget cuts of up to 100% to many esteemed cultural organisations.
France has always led the way in cultural policy - being the first country to establish a collection society (SACEM), a Ministry of Culture (1961), and a network of provincial music offices (Le Pôle) to invest in talent. They have a cultural development bank. They created and put €80m into CNM - Centre national de la musique - essentially the first Ministry of Music in the world. Their research output is enormous, and they progressively tax more prominent players in the music ecosystem and direct that investment into the grassroots. That cuts of this scale can happen in France sets a worrying precedent.
One of those organisations affected is Trempolino, one of Europe’s leading music hubs, as well as Le Nouveau Pavillon / Eurofonik which exists to promote often-sidelined contemporary traditional musics, as well as countless other organisations, artists and cultural professionals, not to mention the longterm implications for the public and cultural life at large in this entire region of France.

❓ Is improving public speaking skills and feeling more at ease and confident when delivering your message in public among those resolutions?
....if you are thinking, "Anna, give me a break; it is only the 10th of December... I still encourage you to read further.
Do you want to eliminate those nasty, shaky hands, trembling voice, and forgetfulness when presenting?
🟢 Then, the event that @Dr. Cinzia Berrittella is organizing this Saturday is an an excellent fit for you.
Improving public speaking skills was among my NY resolutions for the year 2024.
I joined the Amsterdam Toastmasters Club (ATC) to turn goals into action. I wanted a clear structure, system, and accountability partners to progress - similar to why the coaching approach works.
The club gave me precisely that: by attending meetings, I learned from the community, mastered storytelling and public speaking skills, received invaluable feedback, and brought all those lessons to my professional life. I can 100% say I became a more confident public speaker. I also met amazing people whom I would never have met if not for the club.
As far as I know, all Amsterdam Toastmasters clubs have a waiting list.
By attending the event this Saturday, attendees can experience the Toastmasters vibe firsthand and become members without waiting.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Dr. Cinzia Berrittella
How do you make your NY resolutions a reality?

“Expectations continue to grow – particularly for a festival that has a mantra to give anyone a stage and everyone a seat – when we have absolutely no core funding support to do that....What’s not understood is the level of risk taken on an individual and organisational level by quite small businesses who don’t know if it’s going to pay off every year”
Some really interesting points about the precariousness nature of funding for arts organisations, and how sponsorship can become toxic:
