Sustainably driven construction is becoming more common, and it is warmly welcomed following the UK Green Building Council’s warning last December that the UK’s built environment was not on track to meet the 2050 net-zero emissions target. Is your business incorporating sustainability into its projects? With the need to reduce environmental impact, now is the time to act. https://bit.ly/4hhGVFc #Sustainability #GreenBuilding #NetZero #ConstructionInnovation #UKGBC #SustainableConstruction #GHGEmissions #BuiltEnvironment #EcoFriendly #SustainableProjects

Glad to share that I have been accredited with LEED Green Associate from the U.S Green Building Council (USGBC) after successfully passing the exam conducted by GBCI. Not only the fueled vehicles and Industrial emissions cause harm to the environment, even neat and clean looking buildings where we work and live also cause harm to the environment. According to US dept. of energy annual outlook 2008, built environments contribute to 67% of all the greenhouse gas emissions, while buildings top among all, accounting 38% of C02 emissions which is even more than emitted by transportation and industries. This made me study on Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED). So, let's campaign towards maintaining a sustainable Planet for ourselves and our future generations.... #GlobalWarming #Pollution #Greenhouseeffect #sustainability #greenerfuture #actnow

During the life cycle of a building, its water consumption has a significant ecological impact💧 Since we are very much concerned about the environmental footprint of the building sector, we pay particular attention in each of our (re)development projects to incorporating: 🔹 rainwater recovery systems; 🔹 stormwater retention systems; 🔹 greywater recycling systems; 🔹 leak detection; 🔹 low-consumption appliances. We also follow guidelines provided by the BREEAM framework, EU Taxonomy requirements, and our in-house quality standards. In some projects, such as ZIN in BXNord, we will make the water from the groundwater drawdown available to public stakeholders. This permanently available water can be used for watering or cleaning public spaces. In this way, we intend to participate in the integration of our projects into the city and to reduce their impact on society 🏙️💧 👉 Find out more in our ESG report (page 52): https://lnkd.in/ewj5KJwe #buildinglifecycle #buildingsector #waterprotection #environmentalfootprint #BREEAM #ESG #sustainability #ZIN #realestatebelgium #Befimmo

The U.S. Green Building Council (USBGC) released its Impact Report a few months ago, revealing that #LEED-certified projects across all certification levels are designed to save more than 120 million metric tons of CO2 emissions. As the world’s most widely used green building rating system, LEED has become the global standard for buildings, with LEED-certified #buildings typically consuming 25% less energy, reducing carbon emissions by 34% and using 11% less water. Dow takes pride in being part of a movement that is making a profound impact on the way buildings are designed, constructed and operated to achieve global sustainability goals. The World Green Building Council launched the EU Building Policy Tracker today - an interactive tool that checks in on progress made by EU policymakers in the past few years on the #decarbonisation of the built environment - from the #EPBD to the #CPR and #circularity. The tracker uses a 'traffic light' colour-coded system to visualise levels of progress made across four key areas: 🏗️ Building regulations ♻️ Waste and circularity 💰Sustainable finance 🌳 Sustainable procurement View the EU Building Policy Tracker here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eTJg5YSb This complements the “Building a Zero Carbon Ireland - Government Policy Scorecard” we launched earlier this year which tracks progress against our national roadmap, highlights gaps in current government policies, and showcases the areas we need to focus efforts on in the next few years. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dmNqGWwz #BeBoldOnBuildings #BuildingTheTransition #BuildingLife #ERN #energyefficiency

Possibly one of the most important pieces of work around the decarbonisation of the built environment to come out. One to read absorb and repost. And hopefully it will help reframe the language used around the topic so that we stop calling anything without a gas boiler zero carbon
🚨 Milestone Alert! 🚨 📃Today marks the end of the first stage of what has so far been a near-three-year journey on the road to the world’s first science-led, net-zero carbon buildings standard. 📃 It has been an honour and a pleasure to work alongside the rest of the UK NZC Buildings Standard technical steering group: Jane Anderson, Clara Bagenal George, Adam Baranowski, Julie Godefroy, Jess Hrivnak, Christine Pout, Tom Wigg, Katie Clemence-Jackson, Fabrizio Varriale and Sam Wallis, not to mention the totally wonderful Embodied Carbon Task Group (#TG1b!), all of the supporting Sector Groups, our guiding Governance Board (David Partridge in particular), and the countless others who have volunteered time towards the Standard’s development. 👪 🙏A massive thank you also to The Institution of Structural Engineers and Patrick Hayes, who have supported me throughout this process, offering me time and agency to ensure that our groups could do this job to the best of our abilities. 🚀 436 passionate individuals (myself included) have so far invested in this ambitious task, alongside 26 sponsoring firms, and the twelve Founding Member and Observer organizations and institutions who have given staff time freely. The development of the Standard should have been a multi-million-pound project, but instead, it was mostly driven by volunteer action from those who wished to address the urgent need for such a Standard. It's amazing how this industry has pulled together around this. 💪🌿 🔍 This is just the beginning. It's not a perfect document - this is the launch of the Pilot version of the Standard, available for use on real projects, but we still have work to do. Nevertheless, it is still a huge step forward for the industry, and I'm interested to hear what you all make of it. If you're not sure what to do next, then I'd suggest: 1) Downloading the Pilot version : https://lnkd.in/ddQS2tqs 🚀 2) Sharing this post with colleagues and clients👉💻 and 3) Building some net zero carbon aligned buildings 🌱💡🏫 #NetZero #NetZeroCarbon #Sustainability #RegulateEmbodiedCarbon #ClimateChange #ClimateAction #GreenBuilding #SustainableDesign #BritishStandards #NetZeroBuildings
