Still, locals rely on this precious tree for ecological balance and income as they harvest its pods. Passed by both Houses of Parliament and signed into law by President William Ruto just before the Africa Climate Summit 2023, the Act regulates carbon projects and trading in Kenya, effective from September 15, 2023. Key points for carbon credit projects and trading; -Obtain an environmental impact assessment for all carbon credit projects. -Enter into community development agreements for all land-based projects. -Register with the National Carbon Registry.
