Last week we had our team retreat for Aligned Growth We do this every 6 months, (we are fully remote) and every time the team comes away with more trust, better relationships and more aligned on the things that matter. This year we gave away $3k to charity as a team, with each Pod deciding where the money goes. (thanks to Nathan Barry tweet thread for this recommendation) Two team members referred to this exercise as "Life Changing" Here's some takeaways. 1. Keep it simple, We were together for 2 days and I didn't pack it out. The goal is building trust between teammates. 2. Invest in quality I booked our team members a spot at Soho house Nashville, where they had a pool, gym, sauna, and a great room. Show your teammates that you care! 3. It's not about You I let other team members plan this + put together talks during the retreat. Getting that buy in made it way more enjoyable, and took the pressure off me as the solo founder. I HIGHLY recommend you do this as it's always well worth it

(Friday) Feel-Good Feedback … is returning to your roots. Very late to the table with this one but I'd be remiss not to share thanks and feedback.   Last Friday was nestled into a 48hr window with 5 events – 2 business, 3 personal - so little chance to post. I find it really important to be fully present at events I attend and host to engage properly. But similarly, I also find it important to reflect - on a Friday usually!   I’ve written a Friday post of feedback, thanks and learning for nearly 3 years and highly recommend the practice of reflection and/or journalling, especially if you run a business alone. Some thoughts don’t make it to social if I’m busy, but they’re always scribbled in my diary or phone. It’s important to end the week reflecting on the positive and celebrating any wins, however small.   Last week saw a number of lovely events amongst my working week. A wonderful ladies event by The Children's Adventure Farm Trust at Nunsmere Hall Hotel. Sunshine, fundraising, friendship and birthday antics by Catherine Sandland. What’s not to like! I also had my daughter’s leaver’s prom, an event at Land of Beds listening to Dr. Jill McGarry - Sleep expert, and a Lymm Festival event.   Right up there at the top of the wins was my return to Lymm Business Centre for the local networking group I’ve reintroduced called 'Networking Matters'. A return to my roots.   I started a small #Lymm networking group in 2007 to help local SME’s meet. I also helped set up and still support the charity that runs the Centre. Over time for different reasons, I’ve done less in #Warrington. But I'd never turn my back on my home town, nor the small SME market that I belong to.   It was the right decision to return.   The feedback of both the friendly networking and the wellbeing panel I added was heart-warming. The scones I ordered from Jennifer Perry also went down very well and contributed £70 to her fundraising to offer added feel-good factor.   My first goal when hosting an event, workshop, conference or training session is for people to leave with at least 1 new contact or 1 new piece of information that could positively impact their life or their business.   My second goal is to involve the right expertise to deliver that value and to facilitate new opportunities for others. A win-win for all.   Nothing gives me more joy in my work that fulfilling these goals each week – whatever the size of business, type of marketing project or style of event.   A huge thanks to Jill, Becca, Kim and Michelle for sharing their expertise. A lovely group of attendees and judging from the feedback, a very worthwhile use of their time and money to hear you.   Job done!   On to this week then. And time for some calm. No events. No client work. Leave booked. Reduced media time.
