Earth Day is a time for all of us to reflect on our relationship with the planet and the steps we can take to live more sustainably. At ASM, Earth Day serves as another call to act now, reminding us of the urgency to focus on a sustainable future. As we push the boundaries of what sustainability looks like through our Net Zero 2035 target, we share some recent highlights - with more to come throughout the year.   🌍 ASM’s recently launched Climate Transition Plan (CTP) - a pivotal document in our environmental strategy, outlining ASM’s commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2035 and highlighting our progress towards this ambitious goal. 🌏 Renewable electricity - a significant milestone for this year is our target to source 100% of our electricity from renewable sources. Currently at 88%, we are on track to meet this target, demonstrating our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and leading by example in our industry. 🌎 Supply chain engagement - we took the opportunity of Earth Day to host our inaugural supplier sustainability summit in Phoenix Arizona. Today is World Environment Day! ♻ 🌱   World Environment Day, held annually on 5 June, brings together millions of people from across the globe, engaging them in the effort to protect and restore the Earth.   We would love to take this opportunity to showcase how we are currently contributing to protecting the environment and how we will continue to do so via our ESG Targets:   ⚡ Net Zero Practices: Our new warehouse design embraces net-zero practices, earning us certifications for Net Zero Energy Building and L.E.E.D Silver. This reflects our commitment to sustainable growth and energy efficiency.   🔌 Renewable Energy: We source 100% of our energy from renewable sources and have invested in solar panel infrastructure to self-generate electricity, reducing our carbon footprint.   📄 FTA Audits: In 2024, we achieved the Green and Gold Truck Standard certification from FTA Ireland, underscoring our dedication to road safety and environmentally friendly practices.   🤝 Climate Partners: To enhance our ESG profile, we have engaged with and complied with Ecovadis and Sedex in 2024, reinforcing our commitment to climate responsibility.   ✅ Eco-Driving Certification: All Primeline drivers are certified in eco-driving, resulting in a 3L diesel saving per 100km, equivalent to an 8.1kg CO2 reduction per 100km.   🎯 Targets → Operational Net Zero by 2030 (Scope 1 & 2) → We commit to reducing Scope 3 GHG emissions by 50% per gram CO2/ tkm by 2030 from 2022 base year. → We commit to achieving net zero by 2050 across all scopes. Introduction of HVO (or biodiesel) in truck fleet by 2024.

Sustainability Day on October 30 is an opportunity to evaluate and plan activities and initiatives aimed at using the Earth’s finite resources more wisely and considerately – it aims to remind the global community of the importance of caring for the environment and thinking green. As a chemical company, Schlötter takes a management-level view of environmental sustainability as an issue that informs and guides our decision-making and planning. With the aim to become CO2 neutral by 2030, we analyse, minimize and compensate for our CO2 footprint (Scope 1/2/3) by using solar panels, geothermal heat pumps, e-vehicle fleet, green electricity, etc. Our cross-site climate team leads measures to reduce carbon footprint and implement climate strategy – deploying our extensive environmental know-how to drive climate neutrality in our products and services. We appreciate that sustainability as a concept is complex, contextual and dynamic. Let’s consider a real-world example. Schlötter has long been researching and pioneering the cutting-edge green hydrogen technologies which are essential as a chemical industry raw material, for steel production and as a renewable energy storage medium. For hydrogen to play a role in a climate-neutral future, it must be produced in large quantities and at competitive prices: this requires cost-efficient electrolysers, so Schlötter is researching coating systems to ensure that the material used in hydrogen production can withstand the electrolyser process. We are also proud to partner German state-funded projects, such as the H2Giga hydrogen lead project. Schlötter – where an innovative mindset and future-oriented approach underline our commitment to sustainability.
