Across social issues, our researchers have found that individual-level explanations of causes and solutions are the “default setting” for Americans. For example when it comes to climate solutions, Americans already get a fairly steady diet of “news-you-can-use” messages about how to personally pursue a more climate-friendly lifestyle, and they have plenty of practice in thinking about solving problems at the individual level. (For example: “reduce, reuse, recycle!”) What’s missing is what can be done collectively, systemically, and at a scale large enough to meet the challenge before us. Make sure to focus communications on examples of collective and civic solutions and spend as little time as possible talking about personal consumption choices. Whether we’re talking about climate change, education, or racial justice, let’s focus on institutional changes, not just individual ones. #OnFrameFriday #FramingTips #FridayFacts #FrameWorks

Climate awareness is more crucial than ever and Gen Z stands at the forefront of the environmental movement. This generation embodies a combination of innovation, activism, and a deep-seated desire for change. This passion for environmental stewardship, combined with their creative thinking, positions them as pivotal players in the quest for a sustainable future. Financial literacy is an essential tool in this endeavour. It offers a powerful means for kids and teens to enact tangible, positive change in their communities and make informed decisions about sustainable living through everyday choices. Here are some ways to do that: 🌱Conscious Consumption: By understanding the value of money and the impact of their purchase decisions, youth can champion sustainability by opting for eco-friendly products and supporting businesses that prioritize the planet. 🧩Investing Green: Educating youth on ESG investments can inspire them to back green technologies and renewable energy sources, casting a vote for sustainability with every dollar they invest when they’re older. ♻️Sustainable Practices: From reducing energy consumption at home to advocating for sustainable practices in their schools and communities, financial literacy equips kids and teens with the skills to implement cost-effective, environmentally friendly solutions. How else can we use financial literacy as a tool for sustainable change? 🌎🌿 Share your thoughts in the comments! #Mydoh #FinancialLiteracy #Sustainability #ClimateChange

Climate change is not just a global issue to me—it's personal. It's about survival, equity, and hope for a better future, especially for girls and children whose futures are most at stake. Storytelling is one of my favorite tool to promote social behaviorial change an initiative we also employ Tai Impact . Through impactful communication, I aim to educate and inspire young people, especially girls, to embrace sustainable practices and become agents of change in their communities. A reminder: No matter your profession, don’t forget to embrace climate action and support education. Together, we must ensure a safe, sustainable environment where children can learn, thrive, and build a better future. #ClimateAction #GirlsEducation #StorytellingForChange

🤔 What can climate companies learn from content creators? That the “what’s in it for me” rule still applies. In yesterday’s Good Ripple session, Matt Ward of 4WARD discussed how everyone is at least a little bit selfish. And that’s okay. We’ve got different lives, different experiences, and different responsibilities. So to market climate solutions effectively, we have to know our audience and what their “what’s in it for me?” is. ⚖ A great example used was liberals might respond well to messages of equality and social justice. 💹 While conservatives might be more interested in business solutions and green tech. ☝ Effective messaging involves remembering who you’re speaking to and what they’re interested in. Have you ever had to create messaging that was different to your own values?

“Wicked problems”: These are challenges society faces with no easy or correct solution. Inequality, conflict or climate change are just some examples. Fixing them demands innovation, collaboration and immense creativity. We need new ideas that have never been thought of before. If education is about empowering students to face the world, then fostering creativity must be one of its major goals. But how can this skill actually be taught? See what the experts have to say in the latest blog 👉 https://bit.ly/4d7JDL8 Christopher Thomas Yidan Prize #Creativity #WickedProblems #Inequality #ClimateChange #CreativeThinking

This is a kick-ass graphic. Thanks to Nancy C. for telling me about it! This follows a conversation I was having with a friend about fear. We were talking about why people are reacting so cautiously to the climate crisis, sitting on good ideas, paralyzed on action, or denying problems they knew existed. I think it's related to fear, people are really at a fundamental (and often unconscious) level afraid of doing something their friends, parents, and peers aren't doing. It's easy if you grew up in an Indigenous community, or a hippy commune — but for the rest of us we have to break with established ideas of what it means to be an adult, be cool, be successful, make a good living, plan for the future, teach our kids, and do meaningful work. Friends, family, peers, and colleagues don't react well! To be successful in #climate you have to work outside of your ethnic group, in different classes, different languages, countries, paradigms, and disciplines you weren't trained for. There are very few role models! It's really embarrassing, and awkward, and scary, and there is a LOT of criticism. But there is an expansion and it does get comfortable and really fun. See if you can find yourself in this graphic and also a good direction! #biodiversity #actintime #naturetech #nbs #biodiversitycredits #gbf #sustainability #climateactivism #lateristoolate #climatejustice #fairtrade #esg #environment #sustainability #sdg #savimbo #solarpunk #Indigenous Graphic can be found here. https://lnkd.in/es8KwAwS

As I learn more about climate change and action, I was blown away to read that Project Drawdown lists educating girls as the sixth most effective solution (out of 80) to decrease global emissions! This is higher than many green technologies like rooftop solar panels and EVs. Educating girls means that they marry later, have fewer and more healthy children and cause cascading positive impact to their families and their communities. This is an exciting discovery for me since it ties my relatively recent interest in climate action to a cause I have supported passionately for decades. Kudos to all that are working hard to close the gender gap in education all around the world! Another topic that has resonated with me is the bias of climate models and many climate narratives against the Global South. A big shout-out to the work that the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism and Carbon Brief have done to put together The Global South Climate Database so that journalists and policy-makers can access a wide range of experts from under-represented countries. The theme of equity comes up unequivocally and constantly, not just because its the right thing to do, but because its the only way we can have the impact we need. We're drilling down on collective action, because now is the time for unification not division. 🤝 The hyper-individualistic narratives we're witnessing seek to polarise, isolate and alienate our societies, when the answer to building just and regenerative systems lie in collective responsibility and action. We must reinforce community and collaboration across a wide range of social movements, to ensure that society remains cohesive, resilient, and compassionate, especially in divisive times. 💜 So what can you do? 👉 Find connection and power in community. History has shown us that systemic change is driven by collective action. 👉 Seek collaboration. We are stronger together, we cannot afford to work in silos. 👉 Challenge divisive language. Organising involves bringing people along with you. Now more than ever we need to seek connection, remembering our collective goal for a just and regenerative future. Whether you're looking to join a community, find collaborative opportunities with values-aligned creatives or a safe space for hope and connection, you'll find it on our Creative Climate Hub 👇 https://lnkd.in/eZD2jcnc #CreativesForClimate #Community #Connection #Collaboration #Action

🌍 Generation Action: The Courage and Contradictions of Youth Driving Change When I see young activists blocking traffic by sitting in front of cars 🚗, I can’t help but feel conflicted. On one hand, it's a bold and frightening act 😟; on the other, it’s a testament to the intrinsic motivation many young people carry to push for societal and systems change 🌱🔄. The passion of this generation is undeniable. But with it comes a reality we all face: cognitive dissonance 🤔—the gap between our values and our behaviors. No one is perfect, and navigating these contradictions is part of the journey toward real impact. 🌿 Why do so many feel powerless? Why is climate anxiety becoming so pervasive? Exploring these questions is essential to understanding the barriers we face in driving meaningful progress. Despite the challenges, I’m inspired by the energy and resilience of those striving for a better future. Let’s support these efforts by fostering open dialogue and empowering each other to turn anxiety into action 💪🌎.
