Designed from the ground up to be lightweight and manoeuvrable, Lemvos has developed an Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV), equipped with advanced sensors and waypoint navigation offering real-time data collection and inspection solutions for waterborne operations. The redesign and electrification of vessels are further steps towards decarbonisation, improving our air quality and reducing water pollution. Lemvos technology reduces the environmental impact of many waterborne operations, helping to conserve our oceans and waterways for future generations. Did You Know? Here are the fundamental differences between Charged Couple Device (CCD) sensors and Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) sensors: All the pixels in CCD image sensors are exposed to incident light (photons) at the same time and convert photos into electrons. The resulting electrical charge is then transferred to a horizontal shift register and a floating diffusion amplifier to create a voltage output. They offer low noise, high dynamic range, medium-range frame rates, and are subject to smearing. In CMOS sensors, incident light is exposed to one pixel row at a time where they are converted into electrons. CMOS sensors have amplifiers in each pixel, resulting in lower power consumption and faster processing of signals. The exposure charge is then converted into a voltage and later into a digital signal using an on-chip Analog to Digital Converter (ADC). 🤖 Cluster for Advanced Manufacturing & Robotics starts - On 5 June 2024, representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK Nord Westfalen), the regional development agency Oost NL, and the regional development agency for the Borken region (Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft für den Kreis Borken mbH), gathered for the inaugural meeting at the High Tech Factory Campus of the University of Twente. The High Tech Factory, a breeding ground and hotspot for nano- and micro-scale startups and scale-ups, provided the ideal setting for participants to exchange information on industrial developments, ongoing projects, and key topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, automation and digitalization, remanufacturing, and data-driven decision-making. The "Core Team" shared insights and engaged in discussions on potential areas for collaboration and effective joint efforts. They explored opportunities to strengthen and enhance regional projects by leveraging cross-border TECH.LAND connections and identified potential areas for new international projects. Following this promising start, the TECH.LAND cluster for Advanced Manufacturing & Robotics plans to meet again before the summer holidays to maintain momentum and develop a joint roadmap and activity plan. The long-term ambition of the TECH.LAND program is to facilitate the transformation of the cross-border regions into one of Europe’s leading manufacturing hubs. This vision involves demonstrating the future of manufacturing, stimulating the exchange of knowledge and experience, and fostering cross-border business connections. The goal is to ensure that the North Westphalia region and the East of the Netherlands remain globally competitive in manufacturing, achieved through close cooperation with companies, knowledge institutions, and government entities. Camilla Cecilia Conti, COO and Co-Founder, tells about her experience: “The reason we came here to INNOVIT is to plant a small seed to come to the United States as a company from a business and investment perspective.  That's why we came from Italy, but the United States is really the right place, especially for our space applications. The program was really interesting for us in many ways: we attended several workshops that were very informative and gave us useful advice and practical aspects on how to come here; there were also many inspiring workshops that made us dream of living the Silicon Valley experience, which is something we can definitely take with us to Italy. We also had mentoring with top-class people, both from Italy and abroad, who helped us validate our business and the technical aspect, but they also helped us with their connections, and that's what we're looking for.  We also had incredible visibility during DemoDay and it was a wonderful experience.
