#NationalAgricultureWeek Almost all farms (98%) are family farms and they account for the majority of farm production (83%), according to USDA. Family farms with an annual gross cash farm income (GCFI) of at least a million dollars account for 46% of farm production. Additionally, the majority (87%) of the over 72,000 operations with an annual GCFI of a million dollars or more are family farms. We thank all farmers and their families for the endless hard work to continue to feed and fuel our world! #ThankAFarmer - #HagemanRealty #FaithFamilyFarmland #Farmlands #Farmlands #Farm #Agriculture #BuyLand #LandForSale #HuntingLandForSale #IndianaLandForSale #TexasLandForSale #IllinoisLandForSale #WisconsinLandForSale #PropertyForSale

🌱 For the sustainable agricultural transition to be successful, farming must become a more viable career choice. Basic Income for Farmers (BI4Farmers) recently launched a discussion paper in which they make the case for a basic income for farmers, farm workers and food producers in the UK, explaining how many of the current problems facing the UK farming sector stems from inadequate income. 💬 “The UK finds itself with farmers who are overworked and underpaid. If we are to build food systems that are fit to weather the changing political landscape with Brexit, using farming practices that adequately respect the environment and that begin to truly address food insecurity we need to make farming a viable career.” 🔗 Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/e-r2_hAe #BasicIncomeForFarmers #BI4Farmers #UKFarmers #SustainableFarming

Extension Specialists, regardless of rank, play a vital role in enhancing the productivity of smallholder farmers through effective communication and teaching. The primary function of all extension specialist is to communicate effectively and provide education that enhances farmers' productivity. No knowledge is wasted be it directly to smallholder farmers, extension agents or to subject matter specialists. In my opinion, the best form of communicating or providing extension services to smallholder farmers is directly to the smallholder farmers not through a third party. #extension #agriculture #farmers

Why do small holder farmers mostly succeed in farming over commercial farmers? Is it because of the size? Answer: 1. Autonomy exist in small holder farming which doesn't exist in commercial farming. The small holder farmer makes informed decision on location, time of action, input sourcing, procument, executing interventions and taking prompt action on an individual basis. He takes responsibility for financing, approval and management. This sole responsibility for decisions and executions avoids delays, quickens progress, and prevents sabotage. 2. Commercial farmers rely heavily on finance to farm, small holder farmers rely heavily on seasonal onset for farming. 3. Commercial farmers depend on the creative resources(ideas, machines and technologies) for farming, small holder farmers depend on the orders and programming of nature to farm. #RAP #RightAgribusinessPractice, #RightAgronomicPractice
