According to the Memphis Shelby County Schools evaluation tool, a superintendent with strong governance and board relations: - Keeps all board members informed on issues, needs, and the school system's operation based on mutually agreed-upon protocols. - Keeps board informed of employment, promotion, and dismissal of personnel. - Offers professional advice to the Board on items requiring board action, with appropriate recommendations based on thorough study and analysis. - Meeting materials are comprehensive and include adequate background information and previous action. Recommendations are well thought out. - Ensures district staff are responsive and understand board members' requests. Considering these criteria, how can the board members measure Dr. Feagins' performance in governance and board relations? My thoughts and more in my latest YouTube video linked in the comments! ❤️

Schools! One of the best things I'm involved in is the KILTS initiative (short for Kidlit Scotland). Tomorrow, we'll attempt to break last year's record: 13,576 kids read something written, illustrated or published in Scotland simultaneously to mark St Andrew's Day. No need to register - just take part and be counted. The all-important INSTRUCTIONS: TAKE PART: Get your pupils reading kids’ literature written/published/illustrated in Scotland (or read to them, depending on age and stage) for at least 20 minutes between 9.15 and 9.45am on FRIDAY 29th November. That way we know there is guaranteed to be some overlap when everyone is reading simultaneously. Share that you are taking part on social media if you can, tagging us (@KidLitScotland on Twitter or KILTS – KidLit Scotland on Facebook) and using the #KidLitScot hashtag. WHAT TO READ? https://lnkd.in/eUWTBnxq is a good place to start, or look at the Scottish Book Trust website. Contact your local bookshop or library in advance, and they may be able to look some suitable books out for you too. MAKE SURE YOU’RE COUNTED: AS SOON AS POSSIBLE after completing your reading, please send us a NEW EMAIL to kidlitscotland@gmail.com with the NUMBER OF ACTUAL PARTICIPANTS (pupils) and the NAME OF THE SCHOOL/TOWN IN THE SUBJECT LINE (often school names occur more than once in Scotland, so the town name will help us differentiate). Please do this by 4pm on the day so we can make the news bulletins that night. Feel free to attach one picture for us to share. Please send us a whole school total rather than separate class totals. Finally: There is a CERTIFICATE to download from our blog which you can print for your young readers on completion: https://lnkd.in/eRecsEGQ We can't wait for the numbers to roll in.
