According to International Energy Agency (IEA) , by 2030, fossil fuel power plants (30%) are increasingly complemented by alternative sources of flexibility, with batteries and demand response in particular emerging as important suppliers of short-term flexibility. In 2050, the flexible operation of electrolysers to produce #hydrogen, will provide nearly two-thirds (33%) of the short-term flexibility needed, with the remainder supplied mostly by #curtailment (20%), #battery storage (5%) and #hydro (almost 40%).

🌍 The New EU Hydrogen and Decarbonised Gas Market Package 🌍 The EU has adopted the Hydrogen and Gas Decarbonisation Package, a key step towards decarbonising the natural gas sector and fostering the development of hydrogen infrastructure. It sets rules for third-party access to hydrogen networks and storage, unbundling of infrastructure operators, and the development of cross-border hydrogen infrastructure. The package also includes measures for tariff incentives and integrated network planning to support the growing hydrogen sector.
