#PlannedParenthood: I began working on Bushra Apa LCC in 2021. One night, I began to create an outline of the website after a few glasses of wine. I guess you could say, liquid courage, the COVID pandemic, and the sudden loss of my father all made me realize how short life is, and I plan to live this life on my terms. What began as an idea to help eradicate sexual violence and teach consent has now grown into a multi-platform organization with more than 35,000 followers and more than 200,000 website visits. And today? I partnered with the International Planned Parenthood Federation of South Asia. This journey has been far from easy. From investing thousands of dollars from my own savings, to receiving discouraging messages and rants from my family, I knew the mission was most important. To destigmatize sex and sex education, eradicate sexual violence, and improve bodily autonomy. I’ve gotten called a slut, a whore, received threats of violence, and hundreds of unsolicited dick pics. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned is that if people are angry because I’m speaking the truth and advocating for the voiceless, then let them be angry. I am not afraid of backlash. From surviving domestic violence, to growing up as a poor, immigrant kid in Queens, New York, I am no stranger to adversity. You expect to be up-in-arms over some trolls? As I get closer to my goal, I hope to build more partnerships, receive more grant funding, and create a non-profit arm to this business. It is incredibily difficult to manage a small-business, while working full-time, but I know my dreams will be worth it. This is only the beginning. Love Always, Bushra Apa ❤️

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝗜 𝘁𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂… 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 7 boys are sexually abused before the age of 18. This may look like just statistics. Of course, because it's not a common conversation that people get to have. And now 1 in every 5 children get solicited sexually while on the internet. The truth most of this abuse is done by the people close to us. I remember 4 years ago was doing research that involved asking a very sensitive question to young people aged 10-24 years “When was your first time having sex”, The follow-up question was who introduced you? This young man by that time aged 21 broke down as he narrated how her aunt was the first to have sex with him. And she did it anytime she wanted! Sad right ,but very common! 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗮 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝘅𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱? ➡Change in mood or personality, such as increased aggression ➡Change in eating habits ➡Decrease in confidence or self-image ➡Excessive worry or fearfulness ➡Increase in unexplained health problems such as stomach aches and headaches ➡Loss or decrease in interest in school, activities, and friends ➡Nightmares or fear of being alone at night ➡Regressive behaviors or resuming behaviors they had grown out of, such as thumb-sucking or bedwetting ➡ Self-harming behaviors. ➡ Excessive talk about or knowledge of sexual topics ➡ Keeping secrets ➡ Not talking as much as usual ➡ Alarming behaviors. ➡ Not wanting to be left alone with certain people or being afraid to be away from primary caregivers, , especially if this is a new behavior. ➡ Signs of trauma to the genital area, such as unexplained bleeding, bruising, or blood on the sheets, underwear, or other clothing especially if this is a new behavior. Feel free to share any more signs or share experiences. If you suspect a child may be experiencing sexual abuse based on these signs, it is crucial to take action. Trust your instincts and seek help from professionals who are trained to handle these situations. 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺. "Stop crying, men don't cry!"; which means men are not allowed to show any form of emotion that suggests weakness. Men are polygamous in nature."; which means men lack the capacity to be sexually disciplined in a serious love commitment. These and other stereotypes are what men are socialized by society to believe from a young age. From a young age, boys are made to believe that expressing emotions is a form of weakness. This is the starting point of their identity crisis, and it trickles down to every aspect of their life. What is society's definition of a strong man? A man who expresses no emotions, one who is the boss and can trample on anyone and everyone into submission, a provider, one who hates pink😁, etc. These serotypes even confuse boys as they mature because all of sudden, emotional intelligent boys are seen as weak, and well-behaved boys are seen as simps. Sexual violence in boys/men are often underreported because boys don't come forward to report these cases since they may be perceived as weak. The downside of socialising boys with this behaviour is that oftentimes, it can lead to a lot of mental illness, drug abuse, poor academic performance, cheating in relationships, spousal murders, suicide, etc. While these are seen as societal violence, it is often a cry for help manifesting in negative forms. Men should be taught from a young age that ✅️it's okay to express emotions in a healthy way ✅️It's okay to join peer groups to learn new things. ✅️Reporting sexual abuse is as important as when a girl does. ✅️Providing for their families doesn't exempt them from self care. 👌👌As a society, we need to change the narrative so our boys can thrive. P.S. At what point did we as a society decide that pink is a girls colour, and boys can't wear pink? 🤔 ~I do not own the rights to this picture.~~ ©️Felicity.K.Etinosa Osemwowa #immigrantkids #immigrantkidswelfare #immigrantkidshub #childimmigration #legalservices #multiculturalkids

Teen dating violence is a prevalent issue among youth. According to Statistics Canada | Statistique Canada (2024), "more than four in ten (45%) teens experienced dating violence since they turned 15." Teenagers need to be educated on the signs of teen dating violence, learn how to discuss and address teen dating violence with friends who may be victims, where/how to get help, and how to prevent it. Moreover, family members, schools, community leaders, etc., need to promote and foster an understanding of healthy relationships among teenagers. This should include awareness of forming and engaging in healthy relationships online. To learn more about teen dating violence, please visit: https://lnkd.in/ex_VtNKn #AwarenessMonday

I’m starting to believe that the focus on child sexual exploitation stems not from increases in consanguinamorous corporealities ascribed to quarentine collocation caused by confinement; instead, I am casting my lot with the anachronism that no evidence exist of a healthy way to ‘exploit’ a child. Ask, them; with the full regalia of evidence and shame. Will this be the next stigma warranting rehabilitative services, prescriptions, and confinement. Or, is the relocation of the dissaffected minors to confinement enhance trauma? Ask, their foster parents. They’ll miss their family. But, confinement offers them them the opportunity to relate to suicidal others, and veteran’s there. Could treatment teams attest to the reality that they possess no healthy idea of mutually appreciated intercourse; literally the nexus of innocence, and not knowing any better. This stance is controversial, yet think of the reality of occurrence over the history of humanity. Folks, it has to do with moral, rather than physical restraint. Concerns of legality affect perpetrators not parents, more harshly. Thats everybody else you’re not dependent on, morally. Similar, to drugs. As far as abuse, ‘does she have all her teeth?’ Are they not developed, or knocked out? You don’t have to be ‘this tall’ in order to die. Did it cause pain; do you know where he keeps his gun? The reality of the myriad of occurrences is evident in both pornography, and in the minds of expecting fathers. But, the gradient and graduation of the resortment to violence, as punishment against all informed of the act. Well, that I believe is an elaboration of fallacy projected into the repression of Freud’s Pleasure Principle, coupled to the attainment of recourse for lacking. What is the crux of ascribing criminality based on denial of appreciation coupled to sustainable development and acceptance of sanguinaty? It’s definitely not love. I assure you.

Did you know...? 🟠It’s estimated 105,000 individuals are involved in sex work in the UK. Most of these are women. 🟠Many women affected by the sex industry, especially on street, face financial struggles, insecure housing, domestic violence, and sexual abuse. 🟠There is evidence that 76% of individuals in the sex industry face various forms of post-traumatic stress disorder. But did you also know that we have a project in the UK that aims to support those in this industry? The Ruby Project is dedicated to ensuring women can choose a life without sexual exploitation – where women involved in the sex industry can pursue genuine alternatives to survival strategies, abuse, poverty and drug dependency. We exist to show the relentless love of God for all women affected by the sex industry and to journey with those who choose to explore the Christian faith. To find out more about the project and for sources on our research, please check out our link at https://lnkd.in/e989T58f . #sexindustry #sexwork #sexeducation #churcharmy #christian #socialjustice #charity #poverty

We don't always talk about the impact on families of human trafficking victims. Yes, familial trafficking is very much real. But I am not talking about family members who exploit another family member. But what about the impact on family members walking through the trauma with a loved one or waiting for a loved one to escape or exit their abuse? And then consider the lack of resources available to those family members. There is an ever present need for more resources to be made available to trafficking victims but also resources made available to family members as well. Family members can also be human trafficked, especially in forced labor exploitation. The need for resources always seems to be in short supply for victims and we must do better. As an anti-trafficking movement, we need to discuss the impact on families more and provide additional resources for family members. Here is an example of children of "sex workers," as the article describes, and the impact on the children growing up exposed to this lifestyle. https://lnkd.in/eSjkHkjh
