As the world’s largest archipelagic nation that is situated on the equator, Indonesia has a wealth of architectural forms that are suitable for hot and humid climates. How have contemporary architects responded to this context? This will be explored in 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮, which is the theme of this year’s 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 exhibition in Kuala Lumpur. Shiraz Cultural and Recreational Complex | 2021 . Adjacent to the main urban highway entering the city of Shiraz; This cultural-recreational complex, located on approximately 4 hectares of land, had several significant aspects for us. Firstly, it was situated close to a city rich in historical and cultural heritage, where leisure activities and spending time in nature, are important for both the collective and individual character of its citizens. On the other hand, its geography posed a challenge due to its desert and sun-drenched climate, conflicting with this desire. Furthermore, its diverse and extensive program required a considerable area of construction, which was inconsistent with its pristine background. The project consists of three major parts: the urban zone along the eastern highway near the entrance of Shiraz city, encompassing the restaurant section; the southern public zone along the main axis; and finally, the private zone, which includes residential spaces with a focus on maximum distance from the urban noise pollution and the utilization of the surrounding natural landscape. .
