‘Active travel is the glue that holds transport together’ My new Sustrans article for Public Sector Focus looks at some of the opportunities for both active travel and transport more widely and how if we are to be successful we need to integrate and devolve. "Many of the components for a national transport strategy for England are there already – it must support Labour’s priorities, including economic growth, creating opportunity, improving health and reaching net zero. Labour has also outlined its transport ambitions: giving local government greater control of buses, reforming our national rail network, devolving long term investment and better integrating transport networks amongst them. The first three of which, importantly, appear in the Government’s legislative programme. Sustrans’ aim is to demonstrate the importance of walking, wheeling and cycling to these goals. Through our work with communities, we know the value in creating spaces where everyone can move safely around. As custodians of the National Cycle Network, a 12,000-mile network of mostly off-road routes, we provide a vital link between neighbourhoods, workplaces, schools and public transport connections. Our sector has achieved much over the past decade to mainstream active travel, but we must do more to show its contribution to the economy, health, climate, and people’s daily lives." https://lnkd.in/d8xPJi9H

** Throwback Thursday ** Let's take a look at our many conferences over the years. We organized one in 2018 and six in 2022 - thanks to the support of our members and growing CAASA team! Today we look at our inaugural (and virtual) Wealth Managers’ Forum in 2021. We had wanted to produce a conference for our many Investment Advisor and broker/dealer members and the many managers that supply quality product to their shelves (actually, the CAASA team wanted to do this for the last 8 years!) and COVID gave us the opportunity to present a compelling slate of speakers and topics to IAs across the country. The challenge earlier was that to get in front of IAs one needs to literally go to their town, but having a virtual platform allowed us to do so without the cost of venues, food/bev, and travel. We were happy with the turnout and continuing our support of the industry in retail-land! You can view the program here: https://lnkd.in/gXjhDhai All of our publications are available here: https://lnkd.in/gTwUCzPP We would like to note that at all of our conferences we strive for a 40% investors, 40% managers, and 20% service provider attendee break-down and have achieved this in virtually all cases. This, we believe, is a golden ratio that provides value to all attendees. We also like to keep our conferences smaller (200-250 max) and would only increase delegate maximums if we have the requisite (40%+) block of investors already registered. We're in this for the long-haul and for member value!

India’s budget 2024 for tourism in specific is disappointing. While, there is broader fiscal plan prioritising infrastructure development, skill development and continuation and consistency in the direction of implemented and future plans but there is hardly any monetary support to market Incredible India in international markets. The 2024 budget allocates significant funds to various key sectors, although the meagre allocation for tourism has considerbly disappointed us. Also, some corrective and favorable decisions on TCS has not been taken. Otherwise, it’s a practical budget overall.

Friday reading... I want to share some thoughts on why Riga is a great destination to host #HCP events! Riga has become a top destination for European healthcare conferences. The capital of Latvia is compact and walkable, easily accessible from major European airports, a knowledge hub with several universities and a dynamic atmosphere. Riga offers excellent infrastructure, accessibility to major European capitals, and competitive pricing, making it a prime choice for HCP event organizers. The city's state-of-the-art hotel meeting facilities, which are compliant with HCP regulations, make it ideal for hosting international events. Healthcare professionals across Europe are increasingly choosing Riga for their events, drawn by its excellent hospitality, affordable venues, and great value for money. The city's unique blend of historical charm with modern conveniences, and its status as home to leading medical institutions and research centres, particularly in biotechnology, life sciences, and e-health, make it an attractive setting for professionals who thrive on innovation. Beyond the conferences, Riga offers delegates a rich experience with its medieval streets, city parks, traditional and modern Latvian cuisine, and the pristine Baltic coast. The mix of work and leisure, set against a backdrop of architectural beauty and warm hospitality, has made Riga unforgettable for the healthcare community. As Riga's reputation continues to grow, more European healthcare congresses are choosing the city for their future events. This trend is solidifying Riga's status as a significant player on the European conference circuit. #healthcareevents #HCP #HealthCareProfessionals #meetingprofs #eventprofs #compliances #mealcups
