Monitoring water quality in mining operations can be a complex endeavor, with lots of water to be managed - sometimes in remote locations or across a large geographic area. One KETOS mining client is finding that they’re leveraging more data insights with KETOS while embracing sustainability without having to complicate their infrastructure further. In just three months, they’ve witnessed: ✅ 3 billion gallons of water monitored ✅ a 141% increase in actionable insights for better real-time decision-making The result: 807 KG of carbon emissions saved and 20+ less hours a month of manual labor - for impressive cost savings and increased ESG results. There have been discussions over time about whether CSR can generate economic benefits for mining companies. However, it should not be lost sight of the fact that CSR should also be driven by a number of considerations, such as the moral obligation to respect human rights, the welfare of society, and the protection of a company's economic activities. Studies conducted by research centres in Europe examined the relationship between CSR performance and the economic growth of European mining companies and analysed data from different medium-sized and large mining companies between 2018 and 2021. The findings of these papers confirm that Corporate Social Responsibility positively affects the economic growth of companies, including their profitability and enterprise value. In addition, CSR indicators affecting each economic indicator were identified, with training, health, safety, and community development having the greatest impact.
The mining sector is one of the most controversial industries in the sense that, at the same time as it is beneficial to society, it can be a threat to it. The mining industry is linked to a countries economy and natural resource activities. We cannot deny that to a large extent a country's economy is associated with its extractive industries. Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives can encompass a wide range of activities, including environmental sustainability, community development, ethical labour practices, safe working conditions, philanthropy and transparency in business operations. Social responsibility in mining in Latin America is a complex and challenging issue, encompassing many aspects, but I am convinced that the concept of responsible mining is something the industry wants and needs. My final year has been an amazing journey of learning more about what I want to pursue going forward in my career. A highlight for me was Aveen Hameed's module surrounding mining and sustainability throughout the full life cycle of mine sites across the globe. My report for this module looked into the dynamic country of Ecuador and analysed the effects of mining on the Ecuadorian people, focusing specifically on ASM and SSM. Through this project, I got to learn more about the Fairmined Initiative's crucial work and how critical the work of mining companies and NGOs is in striking a sustainable balance between people and profit. The geo-environmental industry is an exciting area for me and as I progress in my studies and career. #mining #lookingforwork #ESG #Sustainability

Did you know that inefficient payloads in mining operations aren't just hurting your bottom line, but also our environment? Every extra trip means - More fuel consumption, - Higher emissions, and - Increased wear & tear on equipment. This means more operational costs. Yes, that’s true but what about the environmental cost? This goes under the radar and yet it’s a critical factor shaping the sustainability of the mining sector. You see, payload inefficiency isn’t just about operational delays or increased costs — it has a broader environmental footprint that we can no longer afford to overlook. Here’s a breakdown of the environmental cost: #Mining #Sustainability #Innovation #Efficiency
