There is nowhere on earth like Madagascar and nothing like a Forward Global Journey to accelerate our connection to communities, learning and peers. When our members go to Madagascar May 19 - 24, we will visit a place with 90% endemic plant and animal life. It’s also the poorest country not in active conflict, with community leaders doing incredible, life-saving work on tiny budgets, in unimaginably challenging circumstances. We’ll meet communities in urban centers, in the rainforest and on the coast, to learn about how they are building power for systemic change. Our members will see first-hand the effects of deforestation, learn about the threats to human rights, understand the challenges in health, democracy, education and poverty alleviation, and explore how these issues are interlinked. AMAZON , Don’t destroy AMAZON Our forests are disappearing at an alarming rate. Over the past few decades, we've witnessed the devastating impact of deforestation, with millions of acres of lush, vibrant ecosystems being cleared for various purposes. This alarming trend not only destroys the natural habitats of countless species but also contributes to climate change, soil erosion, and the disruption of vital water cycles. It's time we take action to protect and restore our precious forests and oceans and finally Earth before it's too late. NATO or other Organizations are also responsible for protecting our forests and oceans and all humanity with peace . They should respect to all thoughts without considering racism and finally developing to keep our planet Earth . We have no other place to live as alternative except Earth . Climate Resilience in Kenya's Indigenous Herding 🌿 APT Action on Poverty, alongside our Kenyan partner SITE, is taking action to support indigenous camel-herding communities in northeastern Kenya. We're working to provide better access to water and support women within these communities. Here's why it matters: Over 9 million people in Kenya rely on pastoralism for their livelihoods. These communities practice traditional, ecologically sustainable ways of herding that are vital for our planet's health. But with climate change bringing prolonged droughts and unpredictable weather, their way of life is at risk. Your support for the Green Match Campaign will directly impact these communities, ensuring they have the resources they need to adapt and thrive in the face of climate challenges. 💚 You can make a difference! 🌟save the date!! #GreenMatch #ClimateResilience #CamelsAfrica #IndigenousHerdingKenya #WaterAccessKenya #SupportKenyanCommunities #AdaptAndThrive #GreenMatchCampaign #ClimateActionKenya

Today, we are spreading the word about the vital work of environmental NGO Tree Aid, a charity we are proud to support. Tree Aid works with communities across the drylands of Africa to grow trees as a way of alleviating poverty, improving incomes, and tackling the effects of the climate crisis. Communities living along the frontlines of climate change continue to feel its impacts. Across African drylands, temperatures are soaring, weather patterns are changing and vital land is losing its fertility. For the people who live here, the impact of land desertification and increasing droughts are threatening their survival. Trees are a solution. Trees help to reverse the effects of desertification by keeping water in the soil, stabilsing the earth and returning soil fertility. So far, Tree Aid has restored and protected over 200,000 hectares of degraded land. Not only that, but they have also supported people to develop enterprise groups selling seeds, fruits and nuts from trees for sustainable income, and have grown over 30 million trees across Africa's drylands! 📣 Paulo Gidabudeba, a Datooga community leader, says "In the forest we have sacred trees that we use for worship. Most of these trees have medicinal properties, there isn't a tree without a purpose." This innate knowledge drives numerous Indigenous communities around the world to protect their forests. The importance of protecting forests is increasingly recognised as a crucial and cost-effective ways to mitigate climate change. However, financing protection activities remains a challenge. In Tanzania, the voluntary carbon market has played a critical role in directing much needed funds to Indigenous peoples and local communities who are dedicated to protecting their community-owned forests. 🌳 #indigenousknowledge #nature #carboncredits #voluntarycarbonmarket

Marine Protected Areas are good for people and planet! 🌎 According to the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC), young children that lived near a Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) were approximately half as likely to suffer stunted growth, a key indicator of food insecurity. Average wealth indexes, a measure of relative household income, was 33% higher in communities near the best-protected MPAs. We want to create a healthy future for oceans and coastal communities. That’s why Pacific Environment is working on designating new and protecting existing MPAs across the Pacific Rim, including the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia. Donate to PE now to keep these waters thriving for future generations 🐟 https://bit.ly/donatePE #OceanProtection #ClimateEmergency #NoPlanetB #OceanConservancy

🌍 🕊️ Noah, the Ark, and the Flood: Applying Themes of an Ancient Tale Considering experiences of sustainable development and the projects that create livelihood opportunities while safeguarding the environmental future, it is also certainly apparent that there is overwhelming opportunity and, rarely, if ever, a lack of community vision and ideas for lasting, positive change if people are given the assistance they need to analyze and find the specific initiatives that will enhance their futures. At the same time, the so serious difficulty in securing the funds needed to implement those ideas—whether in water infrastructure, public health, education, or small businesses—makes implementation relatively uncommon, explaining at least in significant part, rampant, constant poverty. by Yossef Ben-Meir Read More: https://lnkd.in/eMGsUQQb Published by The Jerusalem Post https://lnkd.in/eFyhMDp3 #ClimateChange #Sustainability #Environmentalism #SocialJustice #NoahsArk #Humanity #Hope #JoinTheMovement #ShareTheLove #HAF #HighAtlasFoundation #Morocco #Marrakech #SustainableDevelopment #Nonprofit #NGO #GlobalImpact #NewBlog #Read #BlogTips #LinkedInLearning #ProfessionalDevelopment #ThoughtLeadership #IndustryInsights © 2024 High Atlas Foundation

Climate shocks like cyclones, floods and droughts are devastating communities in countries like Malawi, deepening health inequalities for women, children and other vulnerable groups. These changes in climate conditions are shifting patterns of infectious disease transmission, making disease outbreaks more likely. Together with Save the Children UK, the Green Climate Fund and the Government of Malawi, the “Climate resilient health and well-being for rural communities in Southern Malawi” project aims to empower communities to manage climate change impacts on health. The $37m project will reach one fifth of the population of Southern Malawi, including children like 12-year-old Ethel (pictured here with her grandmother) who are just two of thousands displaced due to devastating flooding. We’re proud to contribute to this project along with Foundation S and The Moondance Foundation, to help strengthen Malawi’s climate resilience and support our commitment to get ahead of the health impacts of climate change. #ChangeTheTrajectory
