Today marks the last day of my third maternity leave with my first day back at #Microsoftadvertising tomorrow. *My learnings* > never leave the house without any baby wipes..! > Cap air travel to <three hours (best for everyone all round 😁) > Bluey is a wholesome show with playful and poignant lessons for children and adults alike..... > Teething doesn't get easier even the third time round... 😣 And yet , what I've also learnt is there is a lot of invaluable skills I can leverage. The constant practice of handling multiple tasks simultaneously sharpens organisational skills. The abundant practice of patience in parenthood hones in on empathy and compassion. The unexpected circumstances and constant learning curves demand adaptability as a child's needs change so quickly, requiring you to learn from your mistakes pronto and deal with problems you’ve never encountered before. Crisis management... daily! Finding creative solutions under pressure exercises your resourcefulness. And finally- perspective. Lots of it. On why you work, how you wish to work, and the importance of role modelling working hard, smart and striving to improve, learn and develop. Looking forward to reconnecting!

How many are good at receiving? Receiving! Many of us have the problem of giving a portion of what we have, right? We are all good recipients rather than givers, right? From what I gather, though, we aren't very good at receiving either. Constantly receiving without giving back feels unfulfilling! As an easy example, consider breathing in: it's not possible to hold our breath indefinitely; rather, it's a cycle of inhaling and exhaling. The golden rule states that in order to receive, one must first give. The risk of burnout and financial hardship increases when givers aren't also willing to receive. There should be balance between both: Giving connects you with a sense of purpose and fulfilment, making wealth-building more than just financial gain. This purpose can attract new opportunities and meaningful connections, expanding your network and possibilities for growth. When you give generously, you often attract new avenues of income and support. An open mind to receive allows you to seize these opportunities and resources without guilt, supporting wealth creation and expanding your financial security. Agree? #receiver #giver #balance #wealth #mindset #newopportunities #newpathways #onemustgivetoreceive #itsuniversallaw #ppmmpublic

When I turned 35 on the 13th of March, I was overwhelmed by joy and celebration. Friends and family gathered around, and the day was filled with laughter, good wishes, and a sense of accomplishment for having reached this milestone. However, as the days have passed, a shadow has loomed over this once joyous occasion. It now feels like 35 is the age where the doors to employment opportunities start to close. The harsh reality is sinking in that no one seems to want to hire people who are 35 and older. This realization has been particularly painful, as I have already lost four learnership opportunities solely because of my age. It is disheartening to witness this age discrimination, especially when our government employs individuals who are 35 and above, some even in their 60s and 70s. These older individuals are often celebrated for their experience and wisdom, yet the private sector seems to disregard these qualities in people of the same age. Where are we supposed to find employment if the system is stacked against us from the outset? Who designed this system that only benefits the rich while burdening the poor? It seems fundamentally unfair that the same society that praises experience and longevity in public service does not offer the same respect in the private sector. I write this with a heavy heart, feeling the pain of helplessness in the face of an unchangeable situation. It is incredibly frustrating to know that my potential and capabilities are being overlooked because of an arbitrary number. Many well-meaning individuals would suggest starting a side hustle or something entrepreneurial, but that requires capital. Capital is not something that everyone has easy access to, and the risk involved can be daunting, especially when financial stability is already precarious. I am deeply broken. Despite reaching out to 100 people for help, I have only received empty promises, and some have not even responded. The silence is deafening, and it exacerbates the feelings of isolation and despair. Each day, I scour job postings, network relentlessly, and apply to every opportunity that seems even remotely suitable. Yet, the rejections keep coming, often without explanation, leaving me to wonder if it is always my age standing in the way. We all start somewhere, and we can certainly do better than this. The system needs to recognize that experience, maturity, and a strong work ethic are invaluable assets. Older workers bring stability, a wealth of knowledge, and a balanced perspective to the workplace. It is time for a change in the narrative around employment and age. The journey to find employment should not be this arduous or disheartening. It is a call to action for policymakers, employers, and society as a whole to rethink how we value individuals in the workforce. This is not just my struggle; it is a widespread issue that affects countless others who find themselves marginalized because of their age.

For our career moms, we understand how challenging balancing a career with motherhood can be. So we thought to share four strategic ways you can maintain strong connections with your children despite your busy schedules. These are; 1. Quality Over Quantity Focus on making the most of the time you have with your children by engaging in activities that foster bonding and create meaningful memories. This could include bedtime rituals like reading stories and talking about the day, having at least one meal together daily to share experiences, and planning special family outings on weekends to enhance the quality of your time together. 2. Effective Time Management Optimize your schedule to ensure dedicated time for your children by prioritizing tasks using planners or digital tools, delegating household chores to family members or outsourcing them, and negotiating flexible work arrangements to be more present at home. This helps balance professional and personal responsibilities more effectively. 3. Stay Connected During the Day Maintain a connection with your children even when apart by scheduling regular check-ins through phone calls or video chats, leaving thoughtful notes around the house or in lunch boxes, and using shared calendars to stay updated on each other’s schedules, facilitating better planning for family time. 4. Involve Your Children in Your Work Life Incorporate elements of your professional life into family interactions by sharing interesting aspects of your workday, occasionally bringing your children to your workplace to meet colleagues and see where you work, and engaging them in related projects in a child-friendly way. This helps them understand and appreciate your work while strengthening your bond. Focusing on quality interactions, managing your time effectively, staying connected throughout the day, and involving your children in your work life, can strengthen your bond with your children even with a busy career. #2yearsanniversary Somewhere, I got a notification: hurray, it is your business birthday - typically, I can't find it back. However this month 2 years ago, and maybe know me a bit extra - I started with The Good Consulting Company which I expected to be a slow burn to grow! Which probably will do it on the side for a couple of years and see where it takes me, with not a lot of expectations as was like we see where this ship takes us, but with a lot of passion and determination. That paid off big time; in the last 6 months, we have grown 200%, with probably more growth to come still, and we already have contracts for the 2025 financial year to match this year - and more on the horizon. Our aim is now to grow to 1 million turnover by the end of the next financial year! This is all because of a passion, as I do not sell just a product or service, but I sell why I love this, why it is important, why I do it and the passion behind it. This makes us, as we are growing different from others, as I want to work with people with the same passion, drive and more to create change - and that is also why in #2026 we are going international, with not one but three international events about #inclusion #disabilitiy and #neurodivergence but more on that later in 2025. I never expected to be where I am now, as a bit than a year ago after my divorce, I was looking for extra work, but somehow life decided differently - and in a rollercoaster upwards. Life can give you a lot of hardship and so much more, but if you are passionate about something, you will shine and stand out - now, preparing for the end of the week - and tomorrow, catch up on some overdue e-mails. That I do not want for next year to do :) #anniversary #businessbirthday #growth #future #vision
