It includes a tourist resort and Obudu Mountain Resort. Politically, like many regions in Nigeria, it has historically been governed by men. However, with the growing push for gender equality and the increasing political inclusion of women in Nigeria, we've seen a gradual rise in women's leadership positions at national and state levels. Now, the question arises: Is Obudu ready for a young woman to lead? Martha Utsunung Agba, born in Kubbong-Bette Village in Obudu L.G.A Cross River State, is a young dynamic leader with a wealth of experience in advocacy, leadership, and Politics. She has officially declared her candidacy for the chairmanship of Obudu L.G.A with a bold agenda focusing on 8 critical areas; Transparency, Education, Healthcare, Youth & Women Empowerment, Infrastructure Development, Agriculture & Food Security, Humanitarian Services, and Peacebuilding. Nigeria has a large youth population and there’s growing pressure for young leaders to step into key political positions. But is Obudu prepared to take a chance on this young woman? Capacity Building Workshop for Grassroots Women and Youth-Led SMEs The Youth Enterprise Development and Innovation Society (YEDIS) is pleased to announce a capacity-building workshop designed explicitly for grassroots women and youth-led small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that are members of the Ikirun NASFAT Islamic organization. YEDIS scheduled the event at the Ikirun NASFAT Mosque on the Osogbo-Ikirun Road in Osun State, Nigeria, on Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The workshop aims to engage over 100 participants, primarily women and girls, to promote inclusive growth. A pressing issue that transcends gender boundaries. The limitations we face are not exclusive to women; they affect the middle class, which is rapidly disappearing. We live in an era where a mere 1% of the global population controls over 90% of Nigeria's economy. To combat this disparity, we must prioritize inclusion. Every individual possesses unique talents and strengths. Gender inclusivity begins at home, within our families, the fundamental unit of our nation. As we strive for inclusivity, let us recognize the valuable talents surrounding us. Raising our children with equality and belief in their abilities will yield astonishing results. The gift of a child is an opportunity to transform the world. However, we must acknowledge the mindset of defeatism that discourages girls from participating in social inclusion. To overcome this, we need: 1. Generational gap understanding 2. Mainstreaming people with disabilities into our inclusion efforts As we work towards social inclusion, let us ensure we provide solutions, not create more problems. Effective leadership requires breaking barriers and understanding each other. Let us hear from the girls and women of Northeast Nigeria and let their voices guide our actions. When women and girls are left behind, the world suffers an unavoidable setback. Together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable society.

TAKE ACTION, NOW! On the lessons of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi, the International Community must remain vigilant and proactive in its response. In law, failure to act can potentially render one complicit as an abettor. From prehistoric Himatic racial theories by German researcher Richard Kandt to the protracted history of ethnic violence - following the “Mise a Point” memorandum in 1957, the pro-colonial Belgian-powered 1959 Tutsi cleansing, paving a road to the tragic events of 1994 undeniably underscores the International Community's failure to intervene in time—along with dire consequences of inaction. In his 1852 treatise, The Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte, Karl Marx penned that history repeats itself ...in degrees of tragedy and farce. Those who fail to heed history's lessons risk repeating its darkest chapters. Injustice anywhere poses a threat to justice everywhere, and the mantra of “Never Again” must transcend rhetoric to embody a tangible commitment to preventing atrocities ANYWHERE they may arise. The atrocities committed against the Banyamulenge in northern Kivu (DRC), Sudan, Syria, Gaza, and beyond serve as stark reminders of the ongoing need for decisive action. I encourage UNDP Nigeria team to check The education deprivation in northern Nigeria is driven by various factors, including economic barriers and socio-cultural norms and practices that discourage attendance in formal education, especially for #girls...The unenthusiastic attitude of governments in northern Nigeria towards the educational sector is seen as leading to the neglect of the sector over the years, which has placed the region on worse tread of the educational development index as evidenced in the performance of students and pupils in national examinations and competitions, Additionally UNDP Nigeria TEAMS Elsie Attafuah William TSUMA (PhD) Fati Attahiru !and Zainab Rahima Aminu please identify the inability to mobilise school-age children, and the poor release of funds, as some of the challenges to education in the northern Nigeria, As part of solutions to the challenges,There is need to recommend additional schools to be built in the north and the school feeding programme expanded, among others.
