It's not easy to create a category or to execute on a completely new iteration of the venture model, but that's what Newlab is setting out to do. Thank you to my amazing little team (Corey C. Our fundamental premise on WHY we wanted to organize a Climatech focused pitchfest was very clear - its a complex space, the investment landscape is still evolving and most importantly the tribe of climate founders is still small ! The conversation 2 years ago with Vinod Shankar was are there any grass root level startups that we can back early - given all these factors. 💚 In the Climathon 2023 Version - we took 3 startups to the IC but couldn't cross the finishing line for some reason or the other, but I think we enabled a solid platform for them to move to the next step in their journeys 🚀 However 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧 2024 has evolved multifold - the number of startups working on #energytransition #blueeconomy #sustainablepackaging #energymanagement and a bunch of other promising areas was an absolute thrill ! The mix of idea stage to the early revenue (surprisingly) startups was a delight to say the least - the content quality, the problems founders are solving and most importantly the steps being charted out for every solution presented - was devoid of unnecessary noise and clutter of jargons. 🤩 As usual flying high fives to our team at Capital-A (Manjushree Capital Advisors)and the Java Capital team for putting the event together !
