"Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you." — Ruth Bader Ginsburg, American lawyer and jurist. Passion and commitment are key to leadership. But passion and commitment are also very close to frustration and righteousness. So the real challenge is to choose your professional battles wisely and to perform them in a way that inspires others to join you on your mission. When we lead with integrity and purpose, we build a team, a community that’s ready to innovate and collaborate. #ExecutiveLeadership #ExecutiveCoaching #ConsciousLeadership #SydneyExecutiveLeadership #SydneyExecutiveCoaching

"For Those Who Want to Lead, Read" by John Coleman highlights the troubling decline in deep, meaningful reading among leaders, a problem that has only intensified with the rise of social media and shorter attention spans. In an age where quick consumption of information often trumps deep engagement, the importance of reading broadly and deeply is more critical than ever for cultivating the insight, empathy, and innovation necessary for effective leadership. Nice to see Phil Knight mentioned, as his memoir "Shoe Dog" is currently featured on Retexo's Quarterly Book Recommendations! https://lnkd.in/gy65nPxh #Reading #BusinessKnowledge #BookRecommendations

“Trust, but verify.” – Ronald Reagan This timeless quote reminds us that trust is the foundation of relationships, whether in business, politics, or personal life. But trust alone isn’t enough; verification ensures that actions align with words and promises are kept. Reagan often used this phrase during arms control negotiations, emphasizing the balance between faith in others and the responsibility to hold them accountable. In today’s fast-paced world, this principle is more relevant than ever. Whether you’re building partnerships, managing a team, or pursuing personal goals, trust fosters collaboration, while verification ensures clarity and accountability. How do you incorporate “trust, but verify” into your daily life? Share your thoughts below! #TrustButVerify #RonaldReagan #LeadershipPrinciples #AccountabilityMatters #BuildingTrust #WisdomInAction #Integrity #Collaboration #LifeLessons #TimelessAdvice

It’s a very timely article this - and I think I’ve seen this phenomenon work in so many ways! In practice, I’ve seen it compound pre-existing stereotypes that may exist; for example if you present yourself in a certain way then you are just naturally more instinctively associated with being charismatic by others - or not. Honestly, I see that with founders and their ability to raise money. Often I’ve seen this form of “leadership” actually manifest best in “matching” the societal meta of how you’re perceived - which is the counter narrative to the “leaning into your uniqueness” spiel. For example, if you look well-read / learned which I’ve been told I do, then it’s a cognitive jump for the person / people you’re interacting with to experience something totally different! I wonder if others have noticed the same?
On the one hand, my column for this week feels light compared to everything else going on in the world. I mean, it has the word "rizz" in it, for goodness' sake. On the other, the topic - charisma, connecting with others, making people feel seen and inspired - is central to so many parts of our lives, from politics to friendships to work. It *is* leadership, Charles Duhigg told me. Done right, it can get you promoted, make people like you, change your life. Click through to read more about what charisma is (and isn't), plus tips for nailing your own specific brand of charm. And tell me: how do you connect with others at work? https://lnkd.in/ezCwkhqs
