Prioritize your wellbeing for a healthier work life 🌱 Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay, and this year's World Health Organization theme focuses on mental health at work. In the Netherlands, 1 in 5 employees struggle with burnout, and 19% report burnout symptoms. These facts are a reminder that caring for our mental health is super important—personally and for our work life. Although governments and employers have the main responsibility to protect and promote mental health at work, you can also take steps to support your wellbeing. Here are some techniques I use to manage stress and stay more focused, resilient, and balanced: 🏃♂️ Running: A morning run can boost your dopamine levels, reduce stress, and clear your mind. It can help you feel energized and ready for your working day! l love joining run clubs during the weekend...it is a great way to meet like-minded people and be part of a greater community. For expats in the NL 🇳🇱: It is also a good way to make Dutch friends and practice your Dutch language skills. 🧘♀️ Mindfulness: Taking a few minutes desk break for mindfulness can reduce stress and improve concentration. I recommend you meditate for a few minutes or to try the box breathing technique. 🧘 Yoga: It can help you reduce anxiety, manage your emotions, and promote mental flexibility...preparing you to better manage work-related challenges. ❄️ Ice Baths: While it can be a bit intense, ice baths are amazing to boost your mental clarity and build resilience. Now that autumn is here and the winter season is around the corner, you can also try a cold plunge in nature. In Amsterdam, my favorites are Hima Ice Baths, Renessence or Saints & Stars (if you want a more immersive experience with Sauna).
