Why attend the Green IO🎙️ Paris 2024 on December 3rd, 4th and 5th? To network within the amazing Tech & Sustainability community there, to find clients and suppliers too, but mostly because of our amazing speakers! 🎤 🕵️ Let’s have a glimpse of our rich line-up with Alizée Colin who kindly answered 3 questions: What has triggered your decision to join the jury of the Sustainable Digital Challenge 2024? The curiosity and the desire to meet professionals made me join the jury. I wonder what these companies can do in just a few months. How creative will they be in meeting the challenges? What is their real maturity and understanding of the subject of Green IT? Can you share one of the key messages that you would like participants to get from the challenge? In my opinion, it's essential to know the orders of magnitude of impacts. I'd like organizations to understand what is really impactful and what is less. That's the kind of thinking I want to instill in the participants. What is the most surprising piece of news that you got recently about Green IT? Laure de La Raudiere, President of the French Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (Arcep), recently delivered an engaging and lucid speech on sustainable IT, which I believe is reshaping Arcep's DNA. The institution, which has historically encouraged the development of competition and innovation, asserts that sustainable IT is not just IT for Green, and, I quote: “I am convinced that these solutions will not be enough”. Considering joining? Green IO Paris will be on December 3rd, 4th and 5th. This unique in-person event will provide you with: 🔬 the latest insights from thought leaders in IT Sustainability, 💻 hands-on use cases from practitioners, 🌱 in-depth exchanges with Green IT peers, 🔥 energy flooding from this unique gathering of 500+ like minded responsible technologists. Whether you are a newcomer in this field searching for actionable first steps or a seasoned Tech sustainability expert looking for the latest news, we are positive that you will find all you need and more at Green IO Paris 2024 🙂 Seats are filling up quickly and space is limited. The Franco-Belgian coalition led by the Ville de Roubaix has just won the #lowtech good living #Interreg EU project: "Vivons LowTech Leven"! The aim is to reinvent the way we live in cities in the current climate emergency, by strengthening the links between the public, private and citizen sectors in order to find low-energy solutions. Anthesis Group has supported this project for the past two years and we are proud of the success of the City and its Franco-Belgian partners. It's a strong signal that we're moving towards a more collaborative future in which citizens, public bodies and private sector experts will be working - via #FabLabs, innovative pilots and even calls for applications - on the best solutions for living better with less. Kate Raworth's Doughnut Economy is the compass that points the way. Citizens must play their part in this new eco-systemic paradigm, as I have explained on numerous occasions through the concept of the HumanSphere. It is now our duty to accelerate these changes, and they start with living better together and living better in a reasoned way. LowTech is an advanced disruptive strategy within the concept of the circular economy, because we need disruption. Here we have one of the biggest LowTech projects today, which will now be able to be implemented in two neighbouring countries. It's a wonderful symbol that we support. The Ville de Roubaix Ecological Transition Department is leading an Interreg France-Wallonie-Vlaanderen project called "Vivons LowTech Leven", with a French-Belgian consortium of stakeholders, we are aiming at implementing low tech solutions/practices in households and entreprises work places. With the help of the European Commission - DG Research & Innovation and our Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI) companion (Pierre Menger), we decided this project to be a part of our Circular Systemic Solution we are working on. This project would help us to go further than #zerowaste and #circulareconomy by involving citizens and enterprises to rethink the way they see their waste and the concepts of #frugality and #sobriety. A 100% high-tech society is not a sustainable answer to the threats of resources scarcity and climate change. We have to imagine new models mixing #lowtech and circular solutions with resources intensive and technological solutions in order to find a pathway to a fairer and sustainable world that uses each material, resource in the most efficient way (rare earth metals are more useful in a machine exploring the deep seas and space than in a high tech aircon/heating system with so many functions never used in the good way). What has triggered your decision to join Green IO London? Gaël deserves the credit for reaching out, though as the co-chair of a W3C Community Group dedicated to Web sustainability, I'm naturally very keen to spread the word about our work which could have global importance in the future. 2. Can you share one of the key messages that people will get from your talk? Everyone is looking for solutions to the climate crisis, and as the tech industry is a significant contributor to the problem we need to be actively involved in the process. Hopefully, work like the Web Sustainability Guidelines can be part of this effort to allow citizens and businesses to take control of their impact. 3. What is the most surprising word that you will use in your speech? People. Sustainability isn't just about the planet, it's about scoping for people as well because ultimately they can have an impact on the ecosystem. Everyone focuses on the E (environment) in ESG they can easily forget about the social and governance (economic) factors that can impact and trigger emissions. Considering joining?
