What do you do when the world is falling a part and your marketing budget for the biggest trade show of the year goes from $250K to $10K over night? Well, you have no choice but to get f’n creative is what! 🤡 Throwback to the challenging times of 2008-2009 when I embarked on designing the Adamo and Eva trade show booth for Global Shop, right before a global recession. The original concept was a groundbreaking idea featuring two distinct halves - Adamo, a high-end men's line catering to the modern businessman, and Eva, a skateboarding brand targeted towards the (then) up-and-coming millennials. The design was innovative, combining repurposed furniture with modern display elements, promising to be the talk of the show. However, as the recession hit hard, our budget was drastically slashed from $250k to a mere $10k. It was a daunting task to fill a 50' x 50' booth with such limited resources. In a state of panic, I knew I had to think outside the box. Understanding the challenges our clients were facing, I pivoted the concept to symbolize unity and resilience in tough times. Thus, the new theme "Together we'll bounce back" was born, featuring over 120 inflatable Bozo The Clown dolls lining the booth. Despite initial skepticism (and even some of our reps refusing to stand in our booth fearing that the clowns would give off the wrong message) the bold move paid off as we were awarded the prestigious title of the best booth of the year. The experience taught me a valuable lesson in creativity, adaptability, and the power of unconventional ideas.
