Today, shipping accounts for around 3 percent of all global emissions. 940 million tonnes of CO₂ per year. 90% of shipping emissions come from deep-sea transportation.    That needs to change, and Höegh Autoliners is leading that change with our Aurora Class. Höegh Autoliners has invested $1.2 billion USD in building the world’s most sustainable car carriers, designed to run net-zero on ammonia from 2027. The vessels will be cutting carbon emissions per car transported by up to 58 percent from the current industry average, representing the future of the shipping industry. With two of our twelve Aurora class vessels already delivered and in commercial operation, we are well on our way to achieving our ambitious goals. In 2027, when the first Aurora is powered by clean ammonia, nearly all carbon emissions will be eliminated. Sustainability is our strategy. With our Aurora Class new building program, we are taking a giant leap towards net zero in 2040.   We are making sustainable shipping doable, accelerating the green transition within our industry, and setting a whole new standard for deep-sea shipping. It was very insightful session about new normal in Ocean freight that is “Uncertainty is certain” and how this industry is evolving to adopt new approaches - Collaboration, Open Communication and partnership - New contracting frame work - uses of technologies - Diversification of sourcing strategies - Shift to Regionalisation - Proactive in Risk Management - Logistics resilience is a priority Thanks to Mr Pavitharan, the panel was excellently moderated and members shared very insightful viewpoints. Kudos to organisers IICS, it’s was very well organised, and I could see lot of active participation and lot of foot falls interacting with various shipping companies, freight forwarder, transporter and logistics tech companies.
