Today, shipping accounts for around 3 percent of all global emissions. 940 million tonnes of CO₂ per year. 90% of shipping emissions come from deep-sea transportation.    That needs to change, and Höegh Autoliners is leading that change with our Aurora Class. Höegh Autoliners has invested $1.2 billion USD in building the world’s most sustainable car carriers, designed to run net-zero on ammonia from 2027. The vessels will be cutting carbon emissions per car transported by up to 58 percent from the current industry average, representing the future of the shipping industry. With two of our twelve Aurora class vessels already delivered and in commercial operation, we are well on our way to achieving our ambitious goals. In 2027, when the first Aurora is powered by clean ammonia, nearly all carbon emissions will be eliminated. Sustainability is our strategy. With our Aurora Class new building program, we are taking a giant leap towards net zero in 2040.   We are making sustainable shipping doable, accelerating the green transition within our industry, and setting a whole new standard for deep-sea shipping. Baker Hughes in India recently hosted the India Supplier Conference in Pune, focusing on the theme "Energizing the future." Vishal Murgudkar, India Sourcing Leader, opened the event for 200+ suppliers from diverse industries, highlighting India's remarkable sourcing reach. There has been a 44% increase in the volume sourced from India in the last two years, with projections indicating a substantial 2x growth by 2025, based on high competitiveness and technical excellence of the suppliers. As India progresses towards becoming one of the world's top three economies, there is immense growth potential. The dedicated sourcing team and committed suppliers aim to leverage this potential by collaborating not only within India but also globally to provide top-notch services and products.   During the conference, our leaders presented Baker Hughes' growth trajectory and future vision, inviting suppliers to be part of this exciting journey. Additionally, attendees were shared a video message from Jim Apostolides, SVP, Enterprise Operational Excellence, who expressed his confidence in India's potential and emphasized the need to strengthen partnerships to achieve mutual goals. This partnership, he emphasized, will continue to drive more sourcing from India, benefiting not just the country but the entire world.   A panel discussion on 'The Role of Responsible Supply Chains' was held, moderated by Mauricio Valadares, with speakers Davide Marrani, Alberto Palazzi, and Stephen Hinson from Baker Hughes. The Session “Manufacturing: Embracing Advancements with Technology and Fostering Innovation" at the CII India Mediterranean Business Conclave 2024, focused on facilitating the manufacturing sectors of India and Mediterranean countries. The importance of steel and EV industries, with a focus on its sustainable expansion was emphasized for boosting manufacturing. The importance of Industrial Internet of Things, cloud platforms, and big data analytics in enhancing the sector were also highlighted.
