*Apprenticeship funding rules 2024-25 update* Excellent news - for new starts from 1 April 2024, where the employer does not pay the apprenticeship levy, the government will fund all of the apprenticeship training costs, up to the funding band maximum, for apprentices who are aged between 16 and 21 years old when they start their apprenticeship training. Also from April 2024, the proportion of funds that levy-paying employers can transfer to other businesses will increase to 50%. scrapping funding for level 7 apprenticeships would have far reaching disastrous consequences for Industry. This blended offering of academic learning and real world experience is invaluable, removing access to this funding would undermine this work based learning model which is proven to be effective for developing adaptable industry ready talent.

For Conservation a level 7 apprenticeship is most likely to open doors to work. I an still not quite sure we have the delivery model right in the UK but there is no doubt that gaining experience and education side by side makes for a fantastic learning experience and work ready staff at the end of it. It’s been obvious in the UK for a while that the Apprenticeship system has moved too far from those most in need of entry level pathways. Waiting on the forthcoming detail, but for now pleased to see the new Government put a focus on Pre Apprenticeships and Foundation Apprenticeships.
