Finding investor-ready projects is a significant priority for Governments (at every level) internationally. Investor ready projects have the power to deliver economic growth while addressing the shortfall in public finances, so finding projects which can be delivered but are also commercially realistic is front of mind for so many different parties. I am super passionate about the topic and so I am looking forward to a moderating the session at the The ASEAN Secretariat's ASEAN Investment Forum on Monday next week. One of the most exciting projects I worked on in Government (way back in 2014) was taking a series of UK's Sharia compliant, investor-ready projects to Malaysia to secure funding from their sovereign wealth and pension funds, to build on the success of Malaysian investor involvement in the iconic Battersea Power Station. This first pitchbook began many years of refining and honing this process to avoid the beartraps and pitfalls of this kind of investor attraction and I have definitely seen the good, the bad and the ugly in the meantime. This demand for investor ready projects is not new but it is becoming more pressing. Matching the right projects to the right investors seems super simple but is never that easy. Doing it well and leveraging domestic and international expertise and experience to increase the likelihood of success is critical. So I am pleased to be joined by a series of experts to discuss this topic and to get their different perspectives on how Governments and IPAs in the ASEAN region can deliver investor ready and transformational projects which will deliver the growth of tomorrow. Will report back on the discussion. #investment #FDI #IPA # Nicola Watkinson (she/her) Rhiannon Harries Stephen Phillips OBE Luke Palmerlee The ASEAN Secretariat United Nations ESCAP ARTNET on FDI Heather L.
