I am pleased to announce that Azərbaycan Dəmir Yolları - ADY / Azerbaijan Railways and Georgian Railway / საქართველოს რკინიგზა have successfully established an API connection between their information systems to facilitate the testing of data exchange related to the CIM/SMGS consignment note. This initiative is part of the second phase of testing the electronic consignment note, the prototype of which was developed by Orkhan Namazov an expert from @UNECE. It is important to emphasize that this prototype fully complies with @UN CEFACT standards to ensure interoperability within the region. This achievement is the result of collaborative efforts that commenced in 2022, involving @OSJD, CIT, and UIC, with the support of UNECE and UN CEFACT. In 2023, five TRACECA countries—Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Türkiye, and Ukraine—signed a Memorandum of Understanding to begin working on the electronic CIM/SMGS consignment note. We intend to establish similar API connections with additional countries. We appreciate your support as we continue our efforts to transition to electronic documentation in the railway sector.

🔔 Information session for CECE from the GB4U and EBA On December 13, Global Business for Ukraine and the European Business Association held an information session “Rebuilding Ukraine: What the Construction Machinery Industry Needs to Know”, co-organized with CECE (Committee for European Construction Equipment). Participants gained valuable insights and updates on key topics related to doing business in Ukraine. In particular, Iaroslava Savastieieva, GB4U Co-Founder, provided updates on the conditions for doing business in Ukraine during wartime. Additionally, there was an engaging discussion regarding business opportunities in infrastructure projects, green energy, technology and innovation, and public-private partnerships. Another issue raised was the importance of Ukraine’s EU accession and the harmonization of legislation. Anastasiia Skok from BDO provided an excellent contribution regarding the industrial sector's participation in Ukraine’s green recovery. “Building back better” is an important principle that should serve as the foundation for the recovery, rehabilitation, and reconstruction phases aimed at enhancing the resilience of nations and communities.

The event was organized by Global Business for Ukraine and the European Business Association in cooperation with CECE (Committee for European Construction Equipment). In his report “Build back better: The industrial sector's participation in Ukraine's green recovery” Anastasiia spoke in detail about the key role of the international industrial sector in the process of green recovery of Ukraine. The main areas of participation include: 🔸 Investing in recovery projects; 🔸 Training and providing expertise for the development of local professionals; 🔸 Providing construction equipment and technological solutions for the implementation of infrastructure projects. Anastasiia shared important aspects of how the international industrial sector can contribute to the green recovery of Ukraine. She emphasized the importance of investment, training, providing equipment and expertise, and the need for cooperation with government agencies to ensure the successful implementation of the recovery. #CARICOM Secretariat facilitates national and regional CSME interventions in Saint Lucia The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat will facilitate national consultations on CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) implementation arrangements and procedures from 22-24 April in Saint Lucia. This mission is being carried out in collaboration with Saint Lucia's Ministry of External Affairs, International Trade, Civil Aviation and Diaspora Affairs.   These national sessions include engagements with Ministries, Departments and Agencies responsible for CSME matters and other key stakeholders to provide an opportunity for assessment of the arrangements in place to support implementation of the CSME. It is expected to also offer insight into the constraints limiting implementation and engage stakeholders in identifying possible solutions. This will require an inclusive approach to the engagement involving critical state and non-state actors. National consultations are scheduled for other CARICOM Member States participating in the CSME.   During that week, from 25-26 April 2024, the CARICOM Secretariat will host the seventh meeting of National CSME Focal Points in Saint Lucia. The meeting will present and discuss areas of priority for implementation of the CSME based on CARICOM’s 2024 work programme. The agenda includes reports from Member States on their national plans for CSME implementation and engagements on any related challenges, among other areas. The consultation and meeting are being executed with the assistance of the 11th European Development Fund: Strengthening the Framework of CARICOM Integration and Cooperation Process (SFCICP).
