Back to education is a strange feeling and completing assignments (much like homework!) even stranger! That said, I am now half-way through the Imperial Sustainability Leadership Program at Imperial College Business School and thoroughly enjoying. Alongside weekly webinar discussions on topics such as carbon footprint reduction, renewable energy, social innovation, impact missions, and sustainable development goals (SDGs), I have been developing my capstone project, a comprehensive sustainability strategy for my organisation. This project incorporates ESG principles and has challenged me to consider all stakeholders, strategise funding for impactful socio-environmental initiatives, create innovative approaches to meet SDG targets, and assess both our strengths and areas for improvement as a global franchise. The course has challenged me through various character-based practical exercises and case studies. For example, one week, I took on the role of a WWF representative in a room of diverse stakeholders, each with differing priorities (profit-driven & cost-efficient vs longer-term environmental protection). We discussed with a multinational corporation about its obligation to become carbon neutral and explored how stakeholder collaboration could help find a balanced solution to meet everyone’s needs, ultimately working toward carbon neutrality in a sustainable way. I strongly believe that businesses play a major role in many global socio-environmental issues, but they also have the potential to be powerful drivers of positive change. This is why I’m finding this course invaluable for my learning and I highly recommend it! Feel free to reach out if you’d like to know more! #sustainability #sustainabilityleadership #sustainablestrategy

It's important to acknowledge our progress, no matter the size, and today I'm happy to share a recent accomplishment! From February to March, I completed the Oxford Leading Sustainable Corporations Programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. Over six weeks, the course covered a range of topics, including: • Corporate purpose and value creation • Climate change response • Natural capital and resource management • Social sustainability • Sustainability governance, risk, and reporting • Levers of change This was an online course that required about 7 hours of my time each week to engage with content, participate in discussions, and complete assignments. Juggling this with my responsibilities at Goodsted was challenging but incredibly rewarding as it broadened my understanding and equipped me with practical skills for sustainability strategies. I applied these lessons directly to my family business, Yaşar Holding, assessing sustainability across our various sectors like food & beverage and energy. I look forward to sharing these findings with the board & directors to advance our sustainability efforts. Additionally, I learned many valuable insights, which I plan to share in an upcoming LinkedIn post series. Whether you're familiar with these topics or new to the field, these posts aim to increase awareness and spark discussion. I encourage you to comment and share your experiences relating to these topic areas when you see these posts! 😊 #sustainability #esg #sdgs #csr

This really is a fantastic and intense 8 week online course but provides a great overarching insight into what sustainability means, what problems we're facing and how organisations are being affected and what to do about it. Fundamental systems changes are required to solve something as big as climate change - small token efforts aren't going to cut it and this course encourages you to think big and be impactful. #sustainabilityleadership #systemschange #changeagent #changeagency #climatechange #climateemergency #sustainability

I’m blown away! For the last 8 weeks I’ve been beavering away on the Business Sustainability Management course at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), a course that has been both challenging and enriching in equal measures. Having run Pala on the foundation of social and environmental impact, I felt I had gained the ‘lived experience’ of running a sustainable brand, but lacked the somewhat more academic side of sustainability and how it all fits together. In short, to be a more rounded consultant working in this space, this course was the perfect partner. The course examined a range of topics from understanding planetary boundaries, systems thinking, legislation and frameworks, consumer behaviour, innovation (love a bit of biomimicry), principles of a circular economy and marcomms strategy - how we highlight the role of businesses in fostering an environment that can flourish and sustain life when managed responsibly. It was an intense experience. You really have to commit, but the value is palpable. I loved connecting with people from all over the world and the diversity of opinion that came with that, as well as the collaboration, the sharing of experiences from the tutors and of course the peer network that has started to blossom now the course has ended. A big takeout for me was that there are a lot more people than I ever thought trying to find solutions to the sustainability problems confronting this planet right now. There are people quite literally in every country on the map thinking, challenging, and innovating a better path for people and planet. It gives me considerable comfort against this existential threat we are facing right now and I’m excited to see how I can play my part. Many thanks to the head tutors Prof. Wayne Visser, Beth Knight and Louise Nicholls; class tutor Catherine Sanchez and fellow students Lelani Brand, Samantha Desai (Phillips) - ACMA, CGMA and Deborah Grand who (in particular) brought such valuable insight into the group discussions. Blown away? Well, in the space of just 35+ years I’ve managed to turn around the 19% I got in GSCE History to 91% on this course. It’s amazing what you can do when you actually read the question and remember to turn the page. Time now for me to share my newly extended knowledge with SME’s looking for their own answers to the sustainability question. 🌍 💚 #bcorp

Being embraced by everyone, while seeming to be embodied by no one: this is sometimes the sad paradox of the reality of Sustainability. 🤔 🌀 🔄 And yet, in a fully challenged environmental and societal context, companies and communities are more than ever in need of enlightened leaders to initiate the shifts required for this transformation ✨🚀 : Leaders taking action and get their teams on board. But how can we empower managers to walk the talk? : that was the crucial stake of revamping the Sustainable Transition Management Program of HEC Paris Executive Education. To make a difference, the revamping of the programme is based on two essential elements: - Providing a holistic view of business sustainability by putting sustainability into perspective from every single aspect of a company's business 🌱💡 : sustainable transition management, sustainable strategy, sustainable finance, sustainable value chain and sustainable marketing. - Overcoming Executive Obstacles 🔨🔧 : by equipping executives with concrete tools and case studies directly applicable to their business. The STM programme at HEC Paris emphasises practical application and adaptability. It aims to translate theoretical knowledge into concrete actions for sustainable development and equip participants with strategies to create long-term value for businesses and society. Marleen De Backer, who followed the programme, felt that it met her needs as "it covers covers the main concepts of sustainability, and how to apply this at company level.” Everyone, at his or her level of the organization, has an important role to play. More than a responsibility, seize this opportunity to make a difference 🌍 ➡️ 🌟: https://lnkd.in/exx4dzhT Bénédicte Faivre-Tavignot Rodolphe Zoubeidi
