𝐓𝐨𝐩𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 A topstitch is a fancy version of the basic straight stitch used in sewing. Topstitching looks nice and can add strength to your sewing project. People often use it on clothes, bags, and quilts. Doing it is too easy, too. Turn the fabric the right way and iron the seam. Sew to the seam about ¼ inches away. Keep your sewing foot flat to keep the stitches even. Sew slowly. #sewing #stitching #sewinginspo #topstitch #sewinglove

𝐀𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 Under stitching is the alternative to pad stitch. It’s a fantastic technique that keeps the facing from rolling up and makes your garment look sharp. 1. Sew the Seam: Start by sewing your facing to the main fabric along the seam line. Think of areas like necklines or armholes. 2. Trim and Clip: Next up, trim the seam allowance to reduce any bulk. If you’re working on curves (like necklines), don’t forget to clip into those edges so they’ll lie flat when you press them. 3. Press the Seam: Give that seam a good press towards the facing. This is key because it helps the facing stay tucked in where it belongs. 4. Sew the Understitch: Now, with the seam allowance pressed toward the facing, stitch about 1/8 inch (3mm) away from the seam line on the facing side. This catches the seam allowance and keeps it anchored. 5. Final Press: After you’ve done the understitching, give everything another press to ensure the facing lies flat and looks neat. #sewing #stitching #handsewing #pickstitch #sewinginspo

Tipping collars bring in a professional appearance to your corporate-branded polo t shirt. But they have some shortcomings as well. Here’s how to tackle the issues when using tipping collars. 1) Colour of the collar to be totally different from the colour of the body to avoid comparison (eg: Body in white and the collar in red) 2) Using “closely” matching “available” thread to make lines to represent your corporate colours 3) Using tipping collars only when solid collars do not work as the durability, colour mapping possibility & collar edge finishing is best with solid colour flat knit collars compared to custom made tipping collars 4) Not picking Tipping collars for rush production timelines Speak to us for more tips and tricks in building your corporate merchandise. https://lnkd.in/guNrsP8Z

Pad Stitch Pad stitching is a sewing technique used in tailoring to add structure and shape to garments. Pad stitching, also called tailor’s stitch or stabstitch. This stitch is basically to attach 2 fabrics. It’s made by sewing small stitches perpendicular to the line of stitching, and tighter stitches make things firmer. This technique can also shape the layers. #sewing #stitching #padstitch #sewinginspo #sewinglessons #sewingpattern

A walking foot machine is great for industrial applications that require working with heavier materials. It looks just like a straight stitch/single needle machine, but it is designed to move materials evenly together during stitch formation. Here’s how it works: The sewing foot on this type of machine features a set of teeth that interact with the sewing machine feed teeth to grip the fabric while running the machine. Instead of relying on the bottom feed dog to pull the fabric through, one foot stays on the fabric as the other rises with the needle. This even feed motion allows both pieces being sewn to go through with minimal slippage, keeping patterns and cut pieces straight during sewing. The needle makes a circular motion as it rises and falls. The needle will rise and come down in the hole. The hole and needle move together to the back along with the fabric until the needle rises up again. The purpose of this walking motion is to keep your layers from shifting as they are receiving equal pressure from the top as well as the bottom. It will also prevent puckered seams when working on items with longer seams. These machines are very popular in the tactical gear sewing industry. In mass production, time is money. #manufacturing #madeinUSA #textiles #sewing #bearsehasyourbag
