Today is the World Water Day, a time to reflect on our relationship with water, how we can build resilience to the shared challenges such as the housing crisis. 🌊🏠🌊 Addressing the housing crisis demands innovation, and floating construction offers a compelling solution. 🌊🏠🌊 At Blue21, our successful projects demonstrate the potential for even much larger projects, from floating neighborhoods to floating islands. Firstly, floating construction provides housing in land-scarce areas. With much of the world's population near coasts, using water surfaces is necessary. Our projects emphasize this, creating new residential possibilities. Secondly, it promotes sustainable living through technologies like floating solar panels and rainwater harvesting. This extends to entire neighborhoods, aiding sustainable urban development. Moreover, it offers resilience against climate change impacts, adapting to rising sea levels and extreme weather. In conclusion, floating construction tackles housing shortages while promoting sustainability and resilience. Lost Habitats incorporates a bespoke AI to create a digital twin of historic habitats and landscapes, tracking changes over time, and uncovering crucial insights that can drive nature recovery, rewilding, conservation, and natural capital investment 🌱 What makes this even more special is that, for the first time, my work with ArchAI and CampWild UK is coming together. ArchAI reveals the hidden stories of nature and history within the land, while CampWild enables people to reconnect with these landscapes through immersive outdoor experiences. The connections we make at Blue Earth Summit - with rewilding projects, conservation groups, and landowners - will be valuable for both projects, allowing us to both reveal the story of the land and help people experience it firsthand.
