Am amazing mixer with AI researchers in the bay area with Lightspeed India team! We had folks from meta, x, uber, Tesla, Google, deepmind, square, Amazon, and several exciting startups from India and US! I've been doing these every quarter but this one was the largest and most fun so far, people were hanging around so late we had to push them out 😂 some really interesting conversations on:
- nature of knowledge, can LLMs create it
- new gen GPUs
- AGI / scaling laws
- LLMs + robotics
- founders finding PMF (or not)
- how to break out in crowded categories
- what's going on in capital markets
- Capex vs Opex cycles
Thanks to my friend Baris Aksoy for hosting it with me! 🙏

Excited to share that we are launching Resolve AI and announcing our $35M Seed round, led by Greylock, with participation from Unusual Ventures and an exceptional group of angel investors.
Our first product is an AI Production Engineer that autonomously resolves alerts and incidents and handles operational tasks, improving reliability and freeing up engineers to focus on building.
This is the second time Mayank and I are building a company together. We met 20 years ago in grad school at UIUC and have been working together since 2012. Since then, we’ve built multiple generations of development and observability tools in startups and large companies, and helped create impactful open-source projects like OpenTelemetry. Along the way, we've worked with some incredible people—this is actually the third time that five of our founding team members are working together–and we’ve also added many new folks with diverse experiences.
Resolve AI is deployed in several customer production environments, helping troubleshoot production issues and delivering real-world impact for engineering teams significantly reducing Mean Time to Resolve (MTTR), increasing uptime and improving reliability.
We’re grateful to our customers and investors for their support in making Resolve AI a reality.

Today's a very special day as we announce the launch of Resolve AI and share that we at Greylock led their $35M Seed round.
Reimagining software development may be the biggest opportunity in the AI era. Resolve is unveiling the world's first AI Production Engineer -- an AI engineer that understands source code, handles alerts, performs root cause analysis, and resolves incidents.
In less than six months since starting, Resolve is already in production across enterprises, dramatically reducing Mean Time to Resolve (MTTR), increasing uptime and improving reliability. Most importantly, companies that use Resolve free up their teams to focus on what they love and not the operational toil of keeping systems running in production.
We are tremendously proud to be backing Spiros Xanthos, Mayank Agarwal and team. Spiros and Mayank are proven entrepreneurs who have built multiple successful companies, most recently leading observability at Splunk following the acquisition of Omnition. They also are the co-creators of OpenTelemetry, one of the most widely adopted OSS projects.
Running production with AI is a tall order and the Resolve team has the rare intersection of deep observability, developer and AI expertise to make it happen.
For the first time, machines are on-call for humans, and not the other way around!

Monday’s best case: AI handling those 3 a.m. incidents so you don’t have to. Even better? It doesn’t just fix the issue—it tells you why it happened.
The real value? Staying in control without the midnight scramble.
Have a look at this demo - Resolve AI digs deep, giving engineers the insights they need to solve problems faster and smarter. As Spiros Xanthos put it, 'Resolve.ai thinks like an engineer, integrating seamlessly with your tools.'
I’m curious to see how AI’s impact on incident recovery will reshape the development team's behaviours and learnings. With AI reducing firefighting, the focus can shift to what matters most — learning from incidents to keep improving the system.

How do you feel about the PNW when it comes to driving tech innovation in #AI?
For me, there has always been this dichotomy of the long standing Enterprises (Amazon, Microsoft, etc.) against the start up culture fostered in the Bay. But, I feel like there are some interesting geographic reverberations happening. On one coast, we have the prolific emergence of many disruptive NYC, Toronto, and Boston based start ups, and with respect to the PNW, we can't forget about the 'Maple Syrup Mafia' that essentially established the tech scene in Vancouver that is still flourishing. Of course, I'm only talking about NA at the moment...and there are clearly very exciting things happening in EMEA & APAC.
Last week I went the AI2 Incubator Summer BBQ Bash in downtown Seattle and was really blown away by the energy, excitement, and breadth of really interesting start ups that were in attendance. The beers were flowing, the music was on point, and folks were engaging in really interesting conversation - with the motivation solely to support one another with this next wave of innovation that we are all experiencing.
For nearly two decades now, Metalab has always taken the approach of more doing, less talking. A new challenge emerges.... let's research, design, build, and learn with our partners. Our initial journey in #AI probably started in early 2018 with Otter.ai, and I can't wait to see what we'll have built by 2028.

We’re all well aware of the parlor tricks of most AI companies but this one is the real deal. I’ve been blown away by the demo of Resolve and its ability to deliver real value in incident reporting. Its real AI. With real value.
